Chelsea faced a major dressing room rebellion after Enzo Fernandez was accused of ‘unbridled racism’ by team-mate Wesley Fofana over a video posted of the Argentina squad celebrating their Copa America victory.
The Blues are investigating controversial footage which shows an Argentina player singing about how the French player is ‘from Angola’ or has a ‘Nigerian’ mother and a ‘Cameroonian’ father.
Fofana, who is French and the son of an Ivorian father, posted the video on X, formerly Twitter, with the caption: ‘Football in 2024: racism without barriers’.
Chelsea have many French players in their squad including Fofana, Malo Gusto, Lesley Ugochukwu, Christopher Nkunku, Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile.
A source close to the players told Mail Sport that Chelsea’s French contingent are angry with Fernandez.

The song originated from the 2022 World Cup final when Argentina beat France on penalties and the players were recorded singing it after Colombia’s victory in the Copa America final on Sunday night.
French Football Federation (FFF) president Philippe Diallo labeled the footage ‘racist and discriminatory’ and vowed to take legal action with a complaint to FIFA.
“Faced with the seriousness of this terrible comment, which is against the values ​​of sport and human rights, the president of the FFF decided to immediately challenge his Argentine partner and FIFA and file a legal complaint for insulting remarks of a racist and discriminatory nature.” added the FFF.
