Elon Musk’s estranged daughter, Vivian Jenna Wilson, has spoken after the results of the 2024 US presidential election.
On Wednesday (November 6), Republican candidate Donald Trump claimed victory over Vice President Kamala Harris, prompting many women and members of the LGBT+ community to express their fear of regressive policies. One of those people is Musk’s 20-year-old transgender daughter, who has championed transgender rights.
Musk has shown support for the current president-elect on several occasions during the campaign amid rumors that he could play a role in the Trump administration.
Taking to Meta’s Threads platform after the election results came in, Wilson wrote: “I’ve been thinking about it, but yesterday confirmed it for me. I don’t see my future in the United States.”
“Even if he’s only been in office for 4 years, even if the anti-trans ordinance doesn’t happen, the people who are willing to vote for this aren’t going anywhere.”
In 2022, Wilson filed a petition in California to change his name, stating in court documents that he does not “want to be associated with my biological father in any way, shape or form.”
She recently spoke out against Musk in July, calling him an “absent father” and admitting he was cruel to her when she was younger because of her queerness. Talk to NBC NewsWilson called out her estranged father to admit he was “tricked” into approving her to undergo gender-affirming medical treatment.
“He wasn’t fooled,” Wilson said, saying his father read the medical documents several times. “He saved my life. Don’t let it get twisted. He always allowed me to move forward.
Wilson was active on the Thread during the election cycle, during which Musk made various media appearances to endorse Trump.
“I’m sorry, everyone. The future doesn’t seem to be what I want it to be,” one post read as Trump began to win key swing states needed to secure the election, such as Pennsylvania.
“‘Blame it on the demographics, blame the demographics’ No. Blame the politicians and oligarchs for causing this. Get mad at them immediately,” one follow-up post read. “I’m not saying don’t be mad at trump supporters/voters btw, by all means, go ahead, you’re in the clear from me. If you’re all trump supporters, you can go ahead now and get your crap off my page.
During his campaign, Trump repeatedly addressed transgender health issues as he claimed that children were receiving “brutal” gender surgeries in schools.
“Kamala supports the state to be able to take minors and perform sex reassignment surgery, take their parents, perform sex reassignment surgery, and send them back home,” he said at one of the rallies in Mosinee, Wisconsin.
“Can you imagine if you are a parent and your son comes out of the house and you say, ‘Jimmy, I love you so much. Let’s go to a good school and your son comes back with a brutal operation,'” he said. “Can you imagine this? What is wrong with our country?”
In countries where gender-affirming treatment is legal, people under the age of 18 need parental consent. There is no evidence that children receive surgery at school.
However, Trump continued to double down on his claims as he also referred to the conservative group Moms for Liberty.
“The transgender thing is incredible. Think about it. Your child goes to school and comes home a few days after the operation. The school decides what will happen to your child,” he said falsely at the time.
