Eamonn Holmes is rumored to be offered £250,000 to appear on a huge reality show.
Celebrity Big Brother bosses say they are eying them up for the next series, after the likes of Fern Britton, Nikita Kuzmin, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh appeared on the program this year, with David Potts going to win.
This comes after Eamonn split from his wife Ruth Langsford after 14 years of marriage.
The Loose Women star, 64, and GB News presenter Eamonn, also 64, confirmed they were in the process of divorcing late last month, with reports claiming work commitments had resulted in the TV duo drifting in ‘different directions’.
Since then, she has not spoken about the split, although she has since returned to her role and thanked fans for their support as Ruth continues her break from Loose Women.
In the middle of all life changes, Eamonn has now been said to be at the top of the list for the bosses of Celebrity Big Brother, with a source admitting: ‘Celebrity Big Brother bookers make a wish list of contestants and Eamonn in it. He would love to have her join him as he is a popular housemate.
‘Eamonn’s health concerns are something he will take into account and, when he makes the offer, he will guarantee that he will be looked after at home.
‘The offer will be a six-figure sum, around £250,000, to try and tempt him.’
The insider added to The Sun: ‘Eamonn has always been wanted for Celebrity Big Brother but never wanted to take part. The split with Ruth and the fact he had to sell his house in Belfast to pay his huge tax bill made the bookies think their heads could be turned.’
Eamonn’s health struggles have seen him use a walking frame to go out in public recently, after opening up about suffering from chronic back pain for years.
The former This Morning presenter put down three discs in 2021 and lost ‘full mobility’.
He then underwent spinal surgery the following year, which sidelined him for nearly four months while he recovered.
Ruth spoke about her health issues days before announcing their split, telling Women’s Weekly: ‘I don’t know how Eamonn’s mobility is going to improve. We live in hope.
‘They are doing physio, but maybe they have to accept that this is not going to be 100% correct.
‘With any situation – and there are millions of people who care in this country – it’s not always easy. It’s testing but we manage it as a family.
In 2018, Eamonn reportedly denied claims that he turned down £800,000 for a stint on Celebrity Big Brother.
‘The words you will never hear from my lips are: “I don’t need money,” he said.
He also added, according to The Mirror, that Ruth ‘wouldn’t let me do it’, with his wife then quipping: ‘No, I just thought you’d snore in your pants.’
Metro.co.uk has approached ITV and Eamonn’s representatives for comment.
Celebrity Big Brother is available to watch on ITVX.
