Eamonn Holmes has reportedly sent his ex-wife Ruth Langsford a reassuring message following false rumors that he was engaged to girlfriend Katie Alexander.
GB News host, 64, contacted Ruth, also 64, to quash the speculation, which was triggered when Katie was pictured wearing a ring, to protect her feelings, it has been claimed.
A source told MailOnline: ‘There are other people in this and I know Eamonn has to message Ruth saying there is nothing in the engagement speculation.’
The former couple announced that they split three months ago in a joint statement after 14 years of marriage and 27 years of relationship, with sources claiming that work commitments are ‘taking people in different directions’.
Since parting ways with Loose Women star Ruth, Eamonn has reportedly grown close to new girlfriend Katie, a divorced mother-of-three who works as a relationship counsellor.
MailOnline previously claimed their friendship had blossomed ‘to the next level’ and decided when they would make their relationship public. It is said that he has been offered ‘big money’ for his first official picture.
Another source also told the publication: ‘Katie and Eamonn are definitely in it for a long time. He said he loved her and she loved him.’
They are said to have first met through social media in 2015.
Former This Morning presenter Eamonn has rarely spoken about his split from Ruth but previously told The Mirror he hoped to remain friends.
They first mentioned their divorce just days after it was announced on the GB News show.
“Before we move on, I want to thank everyone who has supported me and Ruth over the past few days with the news of our separation,” he said.
‘Your support for both of us is greatly appreciated.’
Meanwhile, Ruth has yet to speak publicly about Eamonn. She has pre-booked her second leave from Loose Women after the break-up was announced.
This year, Eamonn has been giving regular updates on his health to his followers after suffering from chronic back pain since he released three discs in 2021.
He underwent spinal surgery the following year, which left him dead for almost four months during recovery, but then he suffered a major setback when he fell down the stairs, revealing he ‘smashed’ his shoulder.
To cope with the pain, the TV presenter has tried new therapies including an ‘anti-gravity’ treadmill device which helps him walk by helping him with a ‘big balloon’ designed to support his weight.
Ruth and Eamonn married in 2010 and have a son named Jack, who was born in 2002.
The wedding was attended by TV presenters Gloria Hunniford and Jeremy Kyle, EastEnders actress Zoe Lucker and former champion boxer Barry McGuigan, and came 13 years after they started dating.
Northern Irish broadcaster Eamonn also has three children, Declan, Rebecca and Niall, from his first marriage.
Metro.co.uk has contacted Eamonn and Ruth’s representatives for comment.
