Former president Donald Trump trending after the reaction to the hard-hitting question at the NABJ Convention.
One clip shows the GOP presidential candidate appearing to a reporter asking him about earning the trust of black voters, given his past racist rhetoric. His evasive answer ended with his question VP Kamala Harris‘ biracial identity, which is her Blackness.
See Trump’s Response to Why Black Voters Should Be Trusted
Donald Trump began his appearance at the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) in Chicago on (Wednesday) July 31, with a spicy response to the first question. She sat on stage with three black female journalists, including Kadia Goba and Harris Faulkner.
Senior Congressional Correspondent for ABC Rachel Scott started the interview by going through a list of times Trump spewed racist and bigoted language, including asking about the birthplaces of other politicians like Barack Obama and Nikki Haley.
Finally, Scott asked, “Why should black voters trust you after you use language like that?”
“Well, first of all, I’ve never been asked in such a horrible way, the first question. You don’t even say, ‘Hello, how are you?’ Are you with ABC because I think it’s a fake news network, a terrible network. I think it would be rude to say that I came here in good spirits. I love the Black population of this country. I have done a lot for the black population in this country, including employment, including the opportunity zone with Senator Tim Scott from South Carolina, which is one of the largest programs for Black workers and Black entrepreneurs.
While continuing on the stage of NABJ, Donald Trump added that he has been given “stone-cold broken” historically Black universities and colleges money, saving and providing long-term financing. For context, he signed a bipartisan bill in 2019 that ended long-term HBCU funding.
“I think this is a rude introduction. I don’t know why you would do something like that. And let me take it a step further. I was told to come here, my opponent was told to come, whether it’s Biden or Kamala, my opponent will be here. It turns out that my opponent is not here. You invited me falsely.”

Donald Says THIS About Kamala Harris’ Black At NABJ
As he continues to dodge questions about why black voters should be trusted, Donald shines a spotlight on Kamala Harris. The former Republican president claimed that Harris used to only promote Indian heritage. For context, she is the first black and Asian American woman to serve as vice president.
“I didn’t know he was Black until years ago when he was Black, and now he wants to be called Black. So, I don’t know if he’s Indian or black,” said Donald Trump at the annual NABJ Convention.

As an undergraduate, Harris attended Howard University, one of the most prominent black colleges and universities in the country. While there, she pledged the historically Black Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority. As a US senator, Harris was a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, supporting his colleagues’ legislation to strengthen voting rights and police reform.
Here’s What Other GOP Nominees Are At NABJ
As for Donald Trump on the NABJ stage, he returned to attacking Scott’s network, ABC. Note that he has argued ABC should not host the next presidential debate, despite prior approval.
In addition, Republicans repeated the false claim that immigrants in the country illegally were “taking Black jobs.” When pushed by Scott about what constitutes a “black job,” Trump responded by saying that it’s “any job.”
As previously reported, Trump first used the phrase “black jobs” in June, during his first debate against former presidential candidate Joe Biden.
Donald Trump to the National Association of Black Journalists: “Many of the journalists in this room are black. I will tell you that there are millions and millions of people who come from the border who happen to take black jobs.

At one point during Wednesday’s convention, he said, “I have been the best president for the black population since Abraham Lincoln.” The audience responded with a mixture of boos and some applause.

As he campaigns for his third White House, the Trump campaign has made clear its efforts to win over Black Americans, the most loyal Democratic voting bloc. The campaign stressed its message about the economy and immigration as part of its appeal.
However, some of his outreach played on racial stereotypes, including suggesting that African Americans would empathize with the criminal charges he faced and promoting a brand of sneakers. When asked to comment Sony Massey and the issue of immunity for the police, Donald could not explain who he was.

Later Wednesday, he went to Pennsylvania for the first time since the attempted murder. Meanwhile, Kamala Harris’ first public rally in Atlanta on Tuesday (July 20) drew a divided reaction.
