Reddy on Thursday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi
Telangana chief minister A Revanth Reddy and his deputy Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Thursday.
The meeting lasted for almost an hour during which Reddy and Vikramarka submitted petitions on 12 pending matters in the state.
1. Allocation of coal blocks to Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL): Singareni is a public sector coal mining company. In this, the Telangana government holds 51 percent equity stake while the central government holds 49 percent. The CM demanded that Shravanapally, Koyagudem Block 3, and Satthupalli Block 3 coal mines be allocated to Singareni to meet the country’s electricity needs.
2. Indian Institute of Management (IIM): The central government took a policy decision to establish one IIM in each state, but so far no IIM has been allotted to Telangana.
3. Revival of Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR) project: In 2010, the central government sanctioned ITIR projects in Hyderabad and Bengaluru. However, it was put on the backburner due to a change in government in 2014.
4. Demand for Integral Coach Factory in Kazipet: During the bifurcation of the state, the central government promised to set up a coach manufacturing center in Kazipet. However, in July 2023, the railway ministry announced to set up a periodic overhaul workshop at Kazipet instead of a wagon manufacturing centre.
5. Inclusion of Telangana in Indian Semiconductor Mission: Well-known companies are keen to set up semiconductor labs in Hyderabad. All these proposals are currently under review by the Indian Semiconductor Mission. The CM demanded that Telangana be given a place in the Indian Semiconductor Mission.
6. Allocation of 2.5 million houses in PMAY: Highlighting the lower allocation in the initial phase, the CM sought sanction of 2.5 million houses for Telangana in the upcoming phase of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). The state is ready to align the guidelines with PMAY.
7. Delayed BRGF grant release: Under the Backward Regions Development Fund (BRGF), the central government has allocated Rs 2,250 crore to Telangana for 2015-2019. The CM has asked to release Rs1,800 crore due to Telangana for the year 2019-24.
8. Defense department land transfer: To improve traffic needs in Hyderabad, the state government has planned an elevated corridor on the Hyderabad-Karimnagar road and national highway 44. The CM asked for smooth transfer of defense land in the area for construction.
9. Setting up of a steel plant in Khammam: Reddy asked to speed up the process of setting up a steel plant in Khammam district. A feasibility report for the project has been submitted.
10. Construction of Regional Ring Road: In the first phase of the project, the central government approved the construction of the northern part of the Hyderabad Regional Ring Road (the national highway from Sangareddy to Choutuppal). The state government is willing to share half of the cost of land acquisition. The CM demanded that the southern extension should also be designated as a national highway and implemented under the Bharatmala project.
11. The CM asked Modi to upgrade 13 state roads to national roads.
12. He also demanded Navodaya Vidyalayas for 12 newly formed districts in Telangana.
Revanth Reddy also met union home minister Amit Shah and asked him to provide the necessary funds to modernize the country’s top intelligence departments, the Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGANB) and the Telangana Cyber ​​Security Bureau (TGCSB).
To control and prevent drug and cyber crime, the chief minister requested Rs 88 crore for TGANB and Rs 90 crore for TGCSB for procurement of modern technology and equipment.
In addition, he stressed the importance of reviewing IPS cadres every five years.
The CM also highlighted the need to establish security force camps in Adilabad, Mancherial, and Kuram Bheem Asifabad districts to combat left-wing extremism.
He also sought the Centre’s cooperation in resolving pending issues related to the creation of a state from Andhra Pradesh.
