The investigation comes after the charity paid more than £50,000 to a company run by Mrs Ingram-Moore and her husband, Colin.

It is believed the new building will serve as a community space to store thousands of cards and gifts sent by admirers. But the neighbors were aghast when a bigger, luxury spa with pool and sauna appeared.
Council planners said the new building was not what they wanted and had ordered the pair to pull it down, issuing a ‘currently invalid building’ notice.

Ingram-Moores’ biggest payday came from a ‘misleading’ suggestion that the proceeds of a £1.4 million book deal would go to the organisation.
The commission said he had been asked to ‘rectify the problem by making a donation to a charity in line with its original purpose as understood by those involved’ but he ‘refused to do so’.
