Tallulah, daughter of Bruce Willis, has shared an update on her health condition, sharing before and after photos of her celebrating a ‘small victory’ with her skin.
The 30-year-old took to Instagram in partnership with the Picking Me Foundation NFP when she shared her experience with compulsive skin picking, also known as dermatillomania or excoriation disorder.
Tallulah shared pictures of her face, including one that looked sore and red around the mouth and orbital area, and others with clear skin.
‘CHOOSE TO HAPPEN!! Then healing ** can ** happen,’ he reassured his followers in the caption next to the side-by-side comparison.
‘Healing doesn’t have to be clear skin, and it doesn’t mean the intrusive thoughts stop intruding, and it doesn’t mean you won’t do it again. It’s a small win,’ he explained.
The former child star, who Bruce shared with the star of Ghost, the former Demi Moore, 61 and now pursuing a career in fashion, wants to help support.
‘There is such a community in this struggle and I really want to show how I got the victory and help rescue all the chosen faces in the world!’ he wrote.
Tallulah was inundated with grateful comments from fans, with @maxncheeez saying she was ‘so exposed’, while @indigowanderess added: ‘Thank you so much for sharing! I struggle with taking and pulling hair and I feel like it’s a misunderstood symptom of trauma that is so validating to see people show it publicly.’
‘I appreciate how you talk about it,’ shared @jemesii, while actress and comedian Chelsea Handler posted: ‘You’re beautiful inside and out. To vote or not to vote.’
Although she didn’t expand on her own experience with the condition in this post, Tallulah has previously discussed it, posting a photo in November and expressing her pride in not picking skin ‘of the month’.
‘Swipe to see the past consequences of this compulsive and don’t nearly say enough about the disorder!!’ he added, besides the picture of the lower lip very sore and angry-looking patches around his nose.
Skin picking is often linked to OCD, ADHD, body dysmorphic disorder, repetitive hair pulling disorder (trichotillomania) and other mental health conditions – as well as skin conditions like acne and eczema.
It can also be linked to those on the autism spectrum, as it can be a form of sensory self-regulation.
Tallulah, who has also discussed her eating disorder recovery journey online, announced her autism diagnosis publicly in March on Instagram.
She shared a video of herself as a child being held in the arms of her Hollywood star father Bruce on the red carpet, where she can be seen repeatedly rubbing his head and playing with her ears.
As his sister Scout, 32, pointed out in the comments, ‘He is stimming’, which refers to self-stimulating behavior, which seems to be most important in people with autism and ADHD.
“Tell me (sic) autism without telling me (sic) autism,” Tallulah quipped in the caption of the post.
In the comments section, she said: ‘This is actually the first time I’ve shared my diagnosis.
‘Found it this summer and changed my life.’
Tallulah and her sisters Scout and Rumer, 35, have also suffered, along with actress mother Demi, with the diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia (FTD) Bruce since 2023, after he retired from acting the year before, due to aphasia.
The family, and Bruce’s wife Emma Heming Willis, were very honest with the diagnosis as they surrounded the 69-year-old Die Hard star with support.
He and Emma also have daughters Mabel, 12, and Evelyn, 10.
