Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Quickly Avoid Run-Ins At Venice Film Festival

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt can’t meet at the 2024 Venice Film Festival.

The controversial exes haven’t been in the same room — or even on the same red carpet — since their split in 2016.

How, at one of the highest Hollywood events of the year, did Brangelina avoid the race?

Careful planning or a stroke of serendipity?

Angelina is expected to be in attendance to support her next big movie, Mariawhere she plays the titular character, opera singer Maria Callas. Brad, on the other hand, will reunite with his friend George Clooney for the premiere of Wolfs.

It should come as no surprise that the powers that be go into making sure that the Oscar winner and her ex-husband are well looked after.

But to some extent it can be surprising.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, the artistic director of Venice Alberto Barbera said that the festival needs special attention so that the famous former films do not overlap in their schedule.

“Angelina will be on the first day, Friday (August 29), and she will go after with (director of ‘Maria’) Pablo Larraín” to the Telluride Film Festival in Colorado, Barbera said. “So Brad will only come on Saturday, to Venice. There is no way he can cross the Lido,” the famous island where the party is held.

Therefore, from the beginning, it was decided that the best thing for everyone was to keep Brad and Angelina away from each other.

Honestly, this is for the best.

Brad and Angelina Are Still At War

In an interview with Vogue in 2021, Angelina said that she separated from Brad for the “well-being” of her family. “It was the right decision,” he said at the time.

But the decision cost him dearly, both emotionally and financially.

The couple is still in a legal battle over assets since their marriage, most notably the Chateau Miraval Winery.

A nine hour drive from where the Venice Film Festival is held, the Winery was purchased during Brad and Angelina’s marriage.

A Vanity Fair article in June 2023 revealed that Jolie contacted Pitt in January 2021 about her decision to sell her interest in the winery as the business focused on alcohol.

“Even now I can’t write this without crying,” Jolie wrote. “Above all, this is the place that brought the twins home, and where we got married through the plaque in my mother’s memory. The place… where I thought I would grow old…. But it was also the place that marked the beginning of the end of our family.

For unconfirmed reasons, Brad did not accept Angelina’s offer to sell his share of the company/estate. When negotiations failed, he sold his interest to Russian oligarch Yuri Shefler for $67 million.

And that’s where the real problem begins – and why they still can’t live in the same room.

Brad’s ex, Angelina Jolie, became the talk of the festival at the Lido after her well-received appearance at the Maria.

Pablo Larraín’s biopic follows the life story of the world’s greatest opera singer, Maria Callas, during her final days in Paris in the 1970s.

Angelina apparently sings in the movie, although her voice is aligned with that of the famous Callas, but she told reporters, she still has to go through extensive training.

“Everyone here knows, I’m very nervous,” she said of learning to sing opera at the film’s press conference. “I trained for almost seven months because when you work with Pablo, you can’t do anything by halves. He demands, in the best way, that you do your work and study and practice.

Meanwhile, Brad Pitt will be in town for the premiere of his movie with George Clooney, wolfon September 1.

The action comedy will find the friends reunited in the action comedy film as two “fixers” hired to kill each other.

The film launches on AppleTV+ this fall.

So when Brad arrives for the premiere, Angelina will not be lost.

And they will never meet again, perhaps again.
