Billy Ray Cyrus and Firerosethe fire is burning. On Monday, August 5, the court officially declared the separated couple divorced after seven months of marriage.
According to the 62-year-old lawyer, he confirmed the news. The two reached an agreement in which the 35-year-old singer will not receive any money from her ex-husband, although she will release credits and royalties on songs they wrote together. When they said goodbye in the Tennessee courtroom, he said to him TMZ and remembers the time with his ex-wife “scam,” “This is the craziest scam I’ve ever heard. Not to mention the fact that I was in the middle and the target of the plan. It’s unfortunate that it played out this way. It’s not just a web of lies that causes physical danger , but also a matter of the heart. Love is blind, that’s for sure.”
The “Old Town Road” singer filed for divorce from Firerose in May after seven months of marriage, citing “irreconcilable differences” and “inappropriate marital conduct,” according to reports.
Per court documents obtained by E! News, Billy Ray also sought an annulment on the grounds that “consent to marry was obtained by fraud.” The official date of separation from Firerose is listed as May 22, the outlet reported. Although it is still unclear what happened between the couple, they have not shared any photos of each other on social media since April.
That month, Firerose called her husband her “best friend” and celebrated six months of marriage by sharing photos from their wedding.
“6 months ago I married this man,” she wrote alongside a picture of her and Billy Ray on April 12. Thank God!”
The “Achy Breaky Heart” singer and the “New Day” artist got married in October 2023 in an intimate wedding ceremony. They shared photos from the event to their respective Instagram pages, with Billy Ray saying, “Long live the love,” in the caption.
“10/10/23 will always be a beautiful and joyful day when our souls are joined as one in holy matrimony,” Billy Ray wrote along with a photo of him and Firerose in wedding dresses. “This is the most perfect and ethereal celebration of love that we can imagine. For both of us to hear the preacher say, ‘Billy Ray and Firerose Cyrus … I now pronounce you husband and wife,’ it is our new holy moment forever since.
The music artist has also collaborated several times, most recently releasing the single “After The Storm.”
The now-separated couple announced their romance in August 2022. Earlier that year, he and his ex-wife, Tish Cyrus, split and divorced for good after being separated more than once during the 20-year marriage. For her part, Tish, 57, is married to her husband, Dominic Purcell, in August 2023. She and Billy Ray share a child Miley, Noah, Brandi, Trace and Braison Cyrus together.
Billy Ray and Firerose’s split comes amid rumored drama in the Cyrus family. No one has confirmed or denied the speculation. Less than a week before the divorce news broke, Billy Ray gave a sweet shout-out to his daughter Miley, 31, in an Instagram post, recalling how “very much” she was.
“She is a survivor and a true artist,” he wrote about Miley in the caption along with a photo of the return of the “Flower” artist. “He learned early to love and respect the fans who make it all possible. We both value our relationship with our fans and are grateful for each and every one of you!
