A federal judge has ordered Virginia to return more than 1,600 people to the state’s voter rolls, just weeks before the upcoming election.
This decision, handed down by US District Judge Patricia Tolliver Giles—a Joe Biden nominee—raises serious concerns about the integrity of elections and the potential for voter fraud in the Commonwealth.
Biden’s Justice Department Gestapo initiated this lawsuit, alleging that Virginia’s voter roll maintenance efforts allegedly violated the National Voter Registration Act’s “Quiet Period Provision,” which limits systematic erasure efforts within 90 days of an election.
Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke defended the DOJ’s actions, asserting that last-minute removal efforts risked harming voters.
However, many in Virginia, including Youngkin, saw this as a blatant interference in state affairs.
“With less than 30 days until the election, the Biden-Harris Department of Justice filed an unprecedented lawsuit against me and the Commonwealth of Virginia, for enforcing a 2006 law signed by Democrat Tim Kaine that required Virginia to remove non-citizens from the electorate. roll – a process that begins with people declaring themselves non-citizens and then registering to vote.
Virginians – and Americans – will see this for exactly what it is: a desperate attempt to attack the legitimacy of elections in the Commonwealth, the very crucible of American Democracy. With the support of the Attorney General, we will defend these common sense measures, which are legally required, with every resource available to us. Virginia elections will be safe and fair, and I will not stop these politically motivated acts from trying to interfere with our elections, period.
Judge Giles, a Biden appointee, asserted that Virginia’s voter verification system is more “systematic”, than individual, and therefore violates the “quiet period” provision of the National Voter Registration Act – a clause that limits the adjustment of voter rolls to 90 federal days. election, according to 8News.
Giles ordered the state to suspend the program immediately and, within five days, restore the voter registrations of more than 1,600 people who were recently removed, according to NBC.
“The defendant’s program has curtailed the right of eligible voters to cast their ballots in the same manner as other eligible voters,” Judge Giles said on Friday.
Governor Glenn Youngkin issued the following statement in response to the federal judge’s ruling:
“Let’s be clear about what happened: just eleven days before the Presidential election, a federal judge ordered Virginia to return more than 1,500 individuals – who consider themselves non-citizens – back to the voter register. Almost all of these individuals had previously provided their immigration documents confirming his noncitizen status, a fact that was recently verified by federal authorities.
“This is a Virginia law passed in 2006, signed by the current Governor Tim Kaine, which mandates a specific procedure for removing non-citizens from the voter register, with protections for confirming citizenship before removal – and failure to register on the same day. US Citizens to Create Provisional Ballots This Act has been used in every Presidential election by Republicans and Democrats since it took effect 18 years ago.
“Virginia will immediately petition the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals and, if necessary, the U.S. Supreme Court, for an emergency stay of the injunction.”
