Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Monday condemned the terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district. Take the Congress line that the development of work in the Valley will not be hampered by such actions, saying the incident is “a cowardly and unforgivable crime”.
“The killing of many people, including doctors and migrant workers, in a terrorist attack in Ganderbal, Jammu and Kashmir, is a cowardly and unforgivable crime,” (translated) he said in Hindi on social media platform X, before Twitter.

He added: “I offer my deepest condolences to all the bereaved families and hope for the speedy recovery of the injured. The courage of the terrorists will not be able to hinder the development of Jammu and Kashmir or destroy the faith of the people. The entire country is united in this fight against terrorism.”

Terrorists ransacked the camp of private company housing workers working on the construction of Z-Morh tunnel in Gagangir area of Sonamarg region. The attack was organized by the terrorist group ‘The Resistance Front (TRF)’, an offshoot of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
The incident occurred four days after the new government led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was sworn in. The People’s Democratic Party (PDP), however, questioned the normal demands made by the BJP-led government at the Centre. He said the government should take responsibility and explain the reason for the attack.
“This is a heartbreaking incident… We condemn this in the strongest terms. There is no place for violence in any society… The killing of seven people, who came here far from their homes, cannot solve any problem… Whether the party leader or leaders, everyone has condemned this. We have reiterated that if there is a problem, it can be resolved only through dialogue…” said PDP spokesperson Mohit Bhan.
He added: “The government is saying again that the situation here is now good. I think through this, the government is trying to challenge these elements and tell us that we have restored normality here. When something like this happens, it raises questions about the claim of normalcy by the government… The government should take responsibility for this situation and tell people why.
