The Trinamool Congress (TMC) said, “Arrogance, entitlement, and contempt for regional parties is a recipe for disaster.”
The election results in Haryana came as a shock to the Congress Party, which was hoping for a comfortable win in the northern state according to early trend forecasts. However, in a major turnaround, the BJP registered victory in the 90-seat assembly by winning 49 seats. As the big twist drew criticism, INDI’s allies pointed to the Congress’ “recipe for disaster”. Party members, too, joined the chorus, blaming “poor management”.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi feels the old party should think about the strategy. “The Congress party needs to think about its strategy because wherever there is a direct fight with the BJP, the Congress party is getting weaker,” he said.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Raghav Chadha, in a cryptic post on X, took a dig at the Congress. He shared a few lines in Urdu that roughly translated, “If you had taken care of my wishes, it would have been a different matter, If you had taken care of our wishes, it would have been a different evening. Today he must also regret leaving me, If we walking together there is always something else.

Congress Leaders Join Critics
Senior party leader and former union minister Margaret Alva blamed poor and unbalanced management.
“In this election, we failed to strike that balance. Many rebel candidates pointed to poor party management. Petty public squabbles, false bravado & a campaign that made many sections of Haryana society insecure all led to turning a victory that would have been a loss,” he wrote in X.
The results in Haryana were disappointing. I was the AICC General Secretary in charge of Haryana from 2004 to 2009 when Congress won the state twice. “The results in Haryana are disappointing. I was the AICC General Secretary in charge of Haryana from 2004 to 2009 when Congress won the state twice. Winning must remain neutral and unify the party – striking a balance between individual aspirations and the good of the party,” he reflected.
Congress Sirsa MP and former union minister Kumari Selja, who generally stayed away from the party’s campaign, expressed disappointment over the party’s performance and said that they will analyze the results and identify those responsible for the defeat.
In addition, in the hijab dig at former Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda and his son Deepinder Hooda, Selja also questioned the responsibility for losing the polls without directly naming them and hinting at coordination problems among the state’s leaders.
“The result is disappointing. Until morning, we hope. All our workers are angry, they have worked for 10 years for the Congress party and when the results came, there was a big disappointment,” Selja told the media on Tuesday as the trend showed the Congress was following expectations.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Omar Abdullah sarcastically said in an interview, “I am sure Congress is not happy with its own performance. I have nothing to add to the wound. BJP is pulling a Haryana twist from somewhere. I am sure Congress will sit again and analyze later.
