Americans who spoke to Fox News Digital have high hopes for President Donald Trump’s agenda when he returns to the White House, but the economy and inflation are the most important.
Following Trump’s victory over Vice President Kamala Harris in the presidential race, Fox News Digital asked Americans across the country what they want Trump to do when he returns to the White House.
One topic that resonated among residents in Texas, Delaware, Michigan, New York and Washington, DC, is the economy.
“Spending. We spend totally out of control, which should be controlled,” said Bob in DC

Joe, also in DC, addressed Trump’s need to focus on helping the middle class, and “the cost of things.”
“I’m hoping it will improve the economy,” Austin said in Birmingham, Mich.
“Maybe lower inflation. That’s why, like many people, voted for him,” said Naya in New York City.
Ron in Claymont, Delaware, also discusses the economy but specifically helps senior citizens who are still deciding “between paying their rent and getting the prescriptions they need to survive.”
“I’m hoping that they’ll raise Social Security so they can do something,” Ron said.
Americans also expressed optimism to see what President Trump does in his second administration. He will become only the second person to serve non-consecutive terms in the White House after Grover Cleveland.
“I’m just optimistic to see what he does,” Ray said in New York.

“I want to see him continue the attitude he showed during his acceptance speech,” Michael said in Birmingham.
In addition, Michael said the “rhetoric” used to describe Trump including “references to Hitler” was counterproductive. “I myself do not see any behavior other than a conciliatory, honest attempt to rebuild a good country in my eyes and have tried to destroy it by, frankly, feelings rather than facts.”
Louis in Claymont, said the first action he wants to see from Trump is to “close the border.”
However, some expressed concern about Trump returning to the White House and not holding back.
“I don’t know. To step back,” Omni said in New York City.
“Well, I hope he’s out of the office soon,” said Tom at Claymont.
“Don’t be misogynistic,” said Ashley in Birmingham.
DEPRESSED MEDIA REACTION TO TRUMP’S VICTORY: HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN?
Cameron in New York City emphasized the importance of Trump to “connect” with America as president. “Listening to people, what people want and trying to, like, you know, connect more with the American people.”
Trump returned to power with a big win in Harris, appearing to be on the verge of sweeping all key battleground states while putting up an impressive showing in deep blue states that narrowed his 2020 loss margin.
He is also on track to win the popular vote in the state, which would make him the second Republican since 1988.
