The House Ethics Committee met on Wednesday to discuss whether to publish a report on Donald Trump’s controversial choice for US attorney general, Matt Gaetz, looking into the allegations against him that he paid for sex with minors in 2017 that will be investigated in 2022.
ABC News is reporting that a former Florida congressman has subpoenaed two women who have testified as part of an investigation into more than $10,000 in Venmo payments over two years, some of which they say were for sex. Gaetz has always denied the allegations.
After the two-hour meeting, chairman Rep. Michael Guest told reporters: “There is no committee agreement to release the report.”
Gaetz is on Capitol Hill with Vice President-elect JD Vance and others on a mission to lobby Republican senators ahead of January’s confirmation hearings. Vance said Trump “deserves” a loyal cabinet to help Republicans win the Senate.
Meanwhile, Trump has made a series of additions to his new cabinet, moving on Tuesday to nominate former WWE boss Linda McMahon as secretary of education, Dr. Mehmet Oz TV as Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Cantor Fitzgerald CEO Howard Lutnick as secretary of commerce, and Matthew Whitaker as a NATO ambassador.
Trump feuded with NFL players in his first season. Now, some are letting go of the dance moves
If the latest dance to sweep the sports world is any indication, Donald Trump and the NFL may be doing better in his second term in the White House than his first.
Some NFL players have taken cues from the college ranks and even the football field and mixed martial arts octagon and are celebrating big moments by hitting the “Trump dance.”

Trump’s cabinet charged the author of Project 2025 even though it was not rejected

Trump will reportedly nominate Russell Vought as director of the White House Office of Management and Budget, a key role that oversees spending in the administration. Vought was also one of the architects of the Heritage Foundation plan and wrote the chapter on reforming the executive branch.
He was one of the authors of the blueprint playbook for the administration’s first 180 days, and the Center for Renewing America is on the advisory board of Project 2025.

Dr Oz has a history of unfounded medical claims – here are a few
A decade ago, Dr. Mehmet Oz was hauled in front of a Senate subcommittee where he faced grilling over false claims he had been peddling about diet and weight loss on TV.
“The scientific community is almost monolithically against you,” Senator Claire McCaskill said, referring to a product she touted as a “miracle” weight-loss drug.
He later became the host of his own program, The Dr. Oz Show, where he spouted other dangerous and misleading claims ranging from “magic” coffee beans to spur weight loss and selenium supplements to prevent cancer.
A 2017 paper published by the American Medical Association Journal of Ethics calling him a “dangerous rogue unfit for an American physician’s office.”
Here are some medical claims that make no sense:

ANALYSIS: Why Matt Gaetz’s report blew up the Ethics Committee
Leave it to Matt Gaetz to start a fight in the House even if he’s gone.
First, members of both parties filed to leave the committee with their mouths shut, as is usual in such scenarios. But as Committee Chairman Michael Guest of Mississippi emerged from the building surrounded by reporters, he said, “There is no agreement on the release of the report.”

Full story: Trump’s lawyer asks judge to ignore prosecutors and reject monetary penalty
A day after New York prosecutors said they would fight efforts to overturn Donald Trump’s money conviction, the president’s lawyers voted for a judge to ignore and throw out the case before he takes office in January.
Echoing the arguments that have since won Trump, lawyers said in a letter Wednesday to Judge Juan M. Merchan that continuing with the case will interfere with Trump’s plans to return to the White House and impede his ability to run the country.
