Wall Street and corporate America are no stranger to uncertainty, a characteristic that could be played out as more than 90 business leaders on Friday announced their support for Kamala Harris for president, saying the vice president will “continue to advance fair and predictable policies that support the rule of law, stability and a healthy business environment.”
Voting for Democrats “is the best way to support the strength, security and reliability of our democracy and our economy,” current and former corporate leaders — former professional basketball players among them — said Friday in endorsing the Democratic presidential nomination.
Among those who signed the letter released to CBS News: billionaire Mark Cuban, Earvin “Magic” Johnson and former 21st Century Fox CEO James Murdoch. Laurene Powell Jobs, widow of former Apple CEO Steve Jobs and head of Emerson Collective, also supported Harris, along with former heads of American Express, Merck, Starbucks and Yahoo.
CNBC first reported on the letter supporting Harris.
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump also has the support of several prominent corporate figures and investors. They include Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, Cantor Fitzgerald CEO Howard Lutnick, billionaire hedge fund manager Bill Ackman, casino tycoon Steve Wynn and venture capitalist Marc Andreessen, among others.
We support the election of Kamala Harris as President of the United States.
Their election is the best way to support the strength, security, and reliability of our democracy and economy. With Kamala Harris in the White House, the business community can rest assured that they will have a President who wants American industry to thrive. As a partner to President Biden, Vice President Harris has a strong record of progressive action to encourage business investment in the United States and ensure American businesses can compete and win in the global marketplace. He will continue to advance fair and predictable policies that support the rule of law, stability, and a healthy business environment, and he will work to ensure that every American can achieve the American dream.
