Netflix viewers aren’t making summer plans to consume the ‘must watch’ thriller A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder.
The six-parter follows Pippa Fitz-Amobi (Emma Myers) as she investigates the murder-suicide of schoolmate Andie Bell (India Lillie Davies) five years after her death.
The court ruled that Andie’s boyfriend Sal Singh (Rahul Pattni) killed her before killing himself – but Pippa was convinced he was innocent and decided to set her free, believing the real killer was still at large.
The nail-biting mystery first aired on the BBC but has also been released on Netflix – with viewers on Rotten Tomatoes planning to watch the series ‘six times’ because it’s ‘perfect’.
Chicken F’s account raved: ‘It lived up to, if not exceeded my expectations. It hasn’t been out for a week and I’ve watched the series six times. I highly recommend this series, it’s the perfect Mystery/Thriller to watch if you have a weekend to spare.’
Echoing these sentiments, Sayan C was delighted: ‘The series is fantastic and everything is nailed perfectly. THE has perfect suspense and thrill I 100% recommend to binge this series.’
Alexa M also squealed: ‘I FRICKING love this. It’s not exactly what the books say, but I personally don’t mind it, it’s still very interesting. THIS IS A MUST WATCH!!! Seriously. Also lots of squealing (watch till the end TRUSTTTT!).’
A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder is adapted from Holly Jackson’s New York Times bestseller of the same name, with the author saying of the TV series: ‘I can’t wait to introduce Pip and Ravi to a new audience, and welcome them. come back to read what we missed, our partners in crime.’
The cast also includes Homeland legend Anna Maxwell Martin, Ghosts actor Matthew Baynton, and rising star Zain Iqbal.
Murder mystery isn’t the only show coming to Netflix this month — the underrated comedy’s second season Unstable has also recently landed on streamers.
Starring Hollywood legends Fred Armisen and Rob Lowe, Unstable follows an estranged son reunited with his grieving father to prevent him from spiraling further – by taking a job at a successful high-tech bio-research facility.
This summer, Netflix fans have also ‘stayed up all night’ to watch a hidden gem show – the Mexican drama Pact of Silence – which has been under the radar for a year.
Telenova follows social media influencer Brenda (Camila Valero) as she infiltrates the lives of four women and their best friends, discovering that one of them is their long-lost mother.
Brenda wants revenge on her mother, but her quest to reveal her identity is complicated by the fact that the woman made a pact not to reveal who gave birth to her teenage daughter.
On Rotten Tomatoes, ShayneO raved: ‘From the first 10 minutes I was hooked. This is a great story line that I love and enjoy. I found myself up until after the heart of the night watching another episode. Will definitely miss it once I’m done with all the episodes.’
LinZ also added: ‘I love this series so much!!! It is mysterious with many twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat. I binge watched all 10 episodes in one day. However, some questions remain unanswered. I really hope the writers will make a season 2, maybe even more, to keep us going.’
If that doesn’t appeal to you, other Netflix shows rated on Rotten Tomatoes are Supacell, Savage Beauty and The Mole – all of which earned a perfect 100% on the site’s review aggregator.
A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder is available to stream on Netflix and BBC iPlayer.
