The former child star of “7th Heaven” is all grown up and is denying the sexual accusations that her abusive television father made against the children.
Cast members Beverley Mitchell, David Gallagher and Mackenzie Rosman were not afraid to share their thoughts on their former co-star Stephen Collins during a rewatch episode of the “Catching Up with the Camdens” podcast on Friday.
“We don’t condone or condone their actions,” said Mitchell, who stars as Lucy Camden on the show. “Our hope for this podcast is to reconnect with you, the fans, to rekindle ’90s nostalgia and share your best memories of ‘7th Heaven.'”
Gallagher and Rosman – who played Simon and Ruthie respectively – were the two youngest members of the Camden clan during the pilot.
The trio added that they had “no inappropriate experiences” with Collins.
“All forms of abuse, sexual abuse of any kind, are inexcusable and victims of abuse deserve love and support,” Gallagher said.
“When we rewatch this episode, it’s impossible not to talk about Stephen because he’s such a big part of the show and our lives,” added Rosman. “But we want to be clear that we did not have an inappropriate experience with Stephen.”
Mitchell added that her former co-star will not be participating in the podcast.
He admitted re-watching the episode involving the admitted child molester could “trigger” fans and hoped people would continue to tune in.
The unassuming actor plays Reverend Eric Camden who lives in the fictional town of Glen Oak, California and raises seven children with his wife in the family drama that ran from 1996 – 2007.
However, Collins’ personal life is very different from the camera.
Collins was allegedly recorded by his estranged wife, actress Faye Grant, during therapy sessions admitting to “inappropriate sexual conduct with three girls” from 1973 to 1994, according to the tapes obtained by TMZ in 2014.
In the recording, Collins said one of the girls was the younger brother of his first wife.
Collins and Grant’s divorce became official in 2015.
The confession led to him being dropped from the “Ted 2” sequel, “7th Heaven” being pulled from syndication and his resignation from the Screen Actors Guild’s National Board.
Collins pleaded guilty to disruptive behavior in 2014.
“Forty years ago, I did something wrong that I deeply regret. I’ve been working to make amends,” Collins said in a statement to People.
In April, the 76-year-old was photographed for the first time in five years in Iowa.
Collins, a Des Moines native, was caught while running errands, which included getting gas for his Toyota minivan and picking up groceries from the store.
He is married to “7th Heaven” superfan from Germany Jenny Nagel and lives in a $557,000 Pleasant Lake home, according to the Daily Mail.
Fans were shocked in March to see how different the cast looked during the reunion – especially Gallagher who was rocking a bald head because people didn’t recognize him from his long blonde locks on the WB hit show.
The show launched actress Jessica Biel who was later nominated for an Emmy award and a Golden Globe award. Other recurring actors appearing on the show include Ashlee Simpson, Haylie Duff, Mila Kunis and Jane Lynch.
