Liam Payne has been buried.
About a month after Payne fell three stories from a hotel balcony to his death, friends, family members and loved ones gathered Wednesday for a funeral service.
It was held in a 12th century church in the English countryside northwest of London.
Among the famous names at the sad event was Payne’s girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, along with his former One Direction friends: Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik and Niall Horan.
Fellow artist James Corden was also in attendance, as was Simon Cowell – who helped launch the band’s career on The X Factor in 2010 – and his fiancée Lauren Silverman.
According to The Sun, Payne’s black coffin had silver handles and was decorated with white roses.
A red flower tribute reading “son” and “father” in white is placed on top of a white carriage pulled by two horses with plumes, the outlet reports.
As mentioned above, Payne died after falling several stories from the balcony of the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The singer was found to have drugs in his system and, according to all official accounts, did not commit suicide.
On November 7, a press release from the National Prosecutor’s Office and Penitentiary No. 14 revealed that the former One Direction member’s toxicology results showed traces of “alcohol, cocaine and prescription antidepressants” in his body.
The prosecutor also stated at this time that “self-harm and/or physical intervention by a third party is excluded” as a contributing factor to the death.
In a brief statement following his death, Liam’s family said:
“We are heartbroken. Liam will live on forever and we will always remember him for his kind, funny and brave soul.
Several other tributes have also gone viral lately, especially for some of the members of One Direction themselves.
“We are totally devastated by the news through Liam. In time, and when everyone can, there will be more to say. But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we love,” wrote One Direction in the group statement.
“The memories we shared with him will be cherished forever. Now, our thoughts are with his family, friends, and fans who loved him. We will miss him terribly.”

Ashley Iaconetti: “This is heartbreaking. He has one of my favorite boy band voices. I will always remember when my friend turned me into a One Direction fan in grad school and he showed me his performance of ‘Gotta Be You’ on the X Factor.
