Donald Trump’s very succinct talk of “unity” during his speech at the Republican National Convention last week may be no more.
“Someone explained to Rep. James Clyburn, not the brightest bulb in the House, that I beat the Biden / Harris Prosecutor, like Deranged Jack Smith, whose case against me in Florida, ‘the biggest of all’ according to the Radical Left Lunatics, only ‘thrown out’ as unconstitutional,” the twice-impeached former president told Social Truth. “Now is the time for me to sue him for illegality, and attack Mar-a-Lago. The entire Biden/Harris case to me is the Weaponization of Justice against his Political Opponents, Me – Third World Countries. MAGA2024!”
It’s not clear what Trump specifically responded to, but in a televised appearance during the day, Clyburn said of Biden: “I believe he will go down in history as one of the best and most important presidents we’ve ever had.”
When Trump was shot at a Pennsylvania campaign rally on July 13, President Joe Biden quickly denounced the attack as “sick,” thanked Trump for being safe, and insisted, “We are not the enemy.” Vice President Kamala Harris, for her part, called the shooting “horrific, horrific, and cowardly,” and said “violence is unacceptable.”
During his RNC speech a few days later, Trump made brief comments about coming together as a nation, then quickly returned to form, hurling nasty insults at Biden, Harris, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and other Democrats.
Trump’s anger-filled screening on Monday followed nearly a dozen other strange posts about Biden and Harris that began Sunday afternoon, and continued into Monday. He rejected Biden’s decision to step aside and allow Harris to run in his place, after weeks of public concern from Democrats that the party needed a younger, more energetic candidate to defeat Trump in November. The Republican candidate also dismissed the threat of a lawsuit over the classified document attack.
Trump’s statement on the federal case brought by the Department of Justice and Special Counsel Jack Smith for allegedly stealing a stack of restricted government documents while leaving the Oval Office and storing them, unsecured, at a members-only Florida country club. now call home, there is something against the law, missed the mark by a significant margin, according to former Federal prosecutor Neama Rahmani.
“The FBI conducting a search under a legally signed warrant does not violate the constitution,” Rahmani told The Independent, noting that the judge overseeing the case, appointed by Trump, refused on procedural grounds. “If Trump actually sues the FBI, I expect the lawsuit to be dismissed very quickly.”
Claiming that law enforcement personnel tasked with searching Mar-a-Lago at the beginning of the case, seizing hundreds of official documents, including highly sensitive classified material, would also be a fool’s errand, according to Rahmani.
“The government and its agents generally have immunity from civil suits,” explained Rahmani. “The immunity is qualified, meaning it can be waived if there is a clear violation of a constitutional right.”
In this case, there isn’t, said Craig Holman, an expert on government ethics, lobbying and campaign finance at the DC watchdog group Public Citizen.
“The DOJ is just doing its job of recovering stolen documents,” Holman said The Independent.
The dismissal of the case will almost certainly be overturned on appeal, as the ruling conflicts with longstanding precedent, Holman added. The only way for Trump to “win” this war, according to Holman, would be to regain the presidency and pardon himself.
Following Trump’s post on Monday about prosecuting the DOJ, Smith, and any other officials believed to be responsible for some unspecified wrongdoing, the former commander-in-chief went after Biden, saying he “will go down as the Worst President in the history of the United States.” ,” and “KAMALA, CZAR BORDER WEB is horrible & incompetent, it will get worse!”
Another message from Trump, posted later in the evening, read, “Wow, just watch the Fake News, and he’s doing his best to turn the Worst President in our Country’s History into a ‘Brilliant and Heroic Leader’ (He’s heroic because he stopped! ), and transformed ‘Dumb as a Rock’ Kamala Harris from a failed and insignificant Vice President into a future ‘Great’ President. No, not like that!”
Trump previously referred to himself as “the best“Presidents in US history, admit they did more for Black Americans than Abraham Lincoln, who ended slavery.
