The Inbetweeners may be coming back, as stars of the show have revealed that talk of a revival has already taken place.
Speaking about the next steps for the series, Joe Thomas, who portrayed Simon Cooper in the Channel 4 sitcom and the two film adaptations, confirmed that another film is a possibility.
Will there be a The Inbetweeners Movie 3?
Speaking about the next steps for the series on the Always Be Comedy podcast, Thomas said: “We’re all still there, we’re all alive. We all still like each other. And if something comes up, I think we want to do it. I think we everyone is still very happy. We have all been able to take various monkeys off our backs, in terms of what we feel the need to do other than the Inbetweeners to prove something to ourselves.
But instead of a series, he insists that he will make a movie, adding: “I don’t think he can make another series. You have to be a movie. You have to have a very smart device to do another series. A movie, I can with the right idea. Will it’s a challenge to do another series, just because of the timeline. But with movies, there are different options.
“I also don’t know where they will put us in terms of age. I think we can play younger, but not younger. It should be about men, I think. And there is something about the adult world and it is more complicated than the teenage world.
Thomas also clarified that the third film could be centered around a bachelor party in Las Vegas.
He said, “I think that teenagers feel a lot of anxiety, and I think their fears and expectations are probably greater than adults. But when it comes to writing a comedy show, the variables are pretty limited, and they operate within fairly narrow parameters. It’s basically ‘Are we going to get to that party, or not?’
“And when you are an adult, there are other things to worry about. That’s why you need this set piece, like a stag night or something. But then, of course, you don’t care about normalcy anymore, because, by definition, it’s a special event. So do you see them, or do you see them like in Vegas, which is nothing?”
