The Golden Bachelorette season 1 contestant Close Close Close captured the hearts of the viewers from the moment he got out of the limo.
“I’m 60 years old, I’ve been able to do a lot. I’ve been loved, I’ve traveled, I’ve had children, I’ve been successful in business and more,” said Chock during the premiere episode in September 2024. “However, I’m lonely. I want someone in my life and that’s why I’m here.
When vying for the affections of Joan Vassos in the spin-off series, the father of two respects “family values”. (Joan is the mother of four children and has several grandchildren.)
“I have a 24-year-old daughter and she said, ‘Dad, you’re not going to like what you’re doing,'” he told Joan during the premiere episode. “And he said, ‘Well, I’m signing you up Gold Scholar.’”
As he shared the story, Chock remembered his daughter’s prediction for the leader. “So that starts the process,” he explained. “But he told me that day, ‘Joan will be The Golden Bachelorette.’”
