NEW DELHI: Union ministry of women and child development has been opened in Portal SHe-Boxcentralized platform for registration and monitoring complaints of sexual harassment women in the workplace.
“The new SHe-Box portal becomes a centralized repository of information related to Internal Committees (IC) and Local Committees (LC) formed throughout the country, covering the government and private sectors. It offers a common platform to file complaints, track status and ensure processing complaint by the IC,” the Ministry said in a press release.
“It guarantees the redressal of complaints and a streamlined process for all stakeholders. News through the designated nodal officer will enable real-time monitoring of complaints,” It added.
Union Minister on the development of women and children, Annapurna Devi hailed the launch of the platform, calling it a major step to prevent sexual harassment of women in the workplace.
Speaking to ANI, WCD Minister Annapurna Devi said, “In 2017, an enhanced version of SHEbox was launched based on the sexual harassment act of 2013, where women who have been harassed at the workplace can register a case in this SHEbox, and file a complaint, Below will be formed two kind of committee.”
“One, for private institutions an internal committee will be formed, and for government institutions a local committee headed by the DM or DC or an appointed officer will be formed. So when a woman registers a complaint, it will be kept confidential, and through the case will be registered with the local committee or internal committee, and action will be taken from time to time,” he added.
The Minister said that action will be taken based on the complaint and the victims will be informed about it.
“At the ministry level as well, we can monitor the number of cases that have been registered and at what stage the complaints are. Through this, the women who work in our workplace can act without fear, as the Prime Minister also wants the participation of women in the workforce to increase. So, this will be very useful, and women can work without fear anywhere,” added Devi.
The launch event was held in the national capital on Thursday, where Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Annapurna Devi launched the platform.
Devi also launched the Ministry’s new website during the event. Union minister of state for women and child development, Savitri Thakur and women and child development secretary, Anil Malik along with other ministry officials were also present on the occasion.
He said that the portal was launched earlier but now an updated version has been launched as per the current requirements. They added that they will continue to develop the platform according to requirements.
“This will definitely benefit women working in various sectors, because they can access it from anywhere by searching on Google. Also, we will make every effort, in collaboration with the state government, to spread awareness about this among people many. We also want private institutions to register and sign up so that women working there can work without fear,” the minister said.
“I ask women to work confidently and without fear wherever they are, if they ever face obstacles, especially in today’s time we see the situation that happened because of the actions of a few who have a disturbed mindset, they should not regret it. to file a complaint, their name will be kept confidential while registering the complaint,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Ministry’s newly developed website is designed to meet the needs of the government.

“This website aims to create a cohesive visual identity on the digital platform, improving the government’s engagement with national and global audiences. As the digital platform is the main point of contact for citizens, maintaining a strong and attractive brand presence is important,” he said.
