Located between Old Street and Clerkenwell, you’ll find a derelict former warehouse behind a walled courtyard.
However, like many places in London, there is a hidden history here that is not immediately revealed.
After rising to fame in the 1980s, pop stars The Pet Shop Boys set up a recording studio at White Lion Court in Garrett Street – and it is now up for sale for £6,000,000.
At 4,400 square feet, after Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe decided to sell, it was converted into a house by architect Charles Tashima, and now has four bedrooms and four bathrooms.
Much of the redesign is deliberately focused on the original Victorian features of the property, including efforts to expose the original brickwork, roof trusses and tall wooden beams.
And, despite the fact that it is no longer used as a studio, it is still soundproof – so if you want to indulge in a late-night movie marathon or just want to blast the best of The Pet Shop Boys as a building destination, you win. Don’t disturb your neighbors.
The open-plan reception room is undoubtedly the centerpiece of the listing, featuring 17-metre wooden beams exposed on the south-facing roof terrace.
There is something not only for music fans, but also for aviation lovers. Throughout the building, there are fossilized limestone floors that were taken during the renovation of Heathrow’s famous Terminal 2.
Of course, when Redditors in the SpottedonRightmove thread found the listing online, the comments were still alive.
‘I remember seeing this before. Really like it. You might say it’s on my mind,’ @Glass_Box_6291 joked. ‘I’ll show myself out.’

‘That’s great, shame about the location. Prefer to go west,’ @Visual-Economist5479 added, referring to the 1986 singles West End Girls and 1993’s Go West.
And there was an obvious jibe made by @yalkeryli, who simply wrote: ‘Thoughts to hire.’
Meanwhile, others wonder what the area was like at the time.
‘I lived just around the corner from there in the early 90s… Clerkenwell wasn’t cool back then,’ @strolls reminisced. ‘I live in a squat in an old pub, and it’s very quiet at weekends. But it’s very convenient for the west end and the city.’
This isn’t the only property previously owned by one of the stars to hit the market. Earlier this month, Peter Cushing’s former family home was sold in Croydon for £995,000.
Peter is best known for his role as Grand Moff Tarkin in Star Wars, and he was nominated for a Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actor. To this day, his memory is commemorated with a blue plaque on St James’ Road in Purley, where he grew up.
Peter, who famously appeared in over 100 films including The Revenge of Frankenstein, The Hound of the Baskervilles and Dracula, lived at the address between 1925 and 1936, when he attended Purley County High School.
Also, in September, Boy George’s five-bedroom Hampstead home went up for rent at £65,000 a month.
Having bought it 40 years ago after Culture Club first shot to the top of the charts, the singer is now looking for a tenant for the property. It was originally put on the market for £17,000,000 in November 2022, and they are still happy ‘do we sell or do we rent.’
