Former President Trump got caught up in the excitement of longtime rivals the University of Alabama and the University of Georgia, participating in a wide-ranging interview about college football and the intersection of politics.
In an exclusive OutKick interview with Clay Travis, Trump highlighted the “energy” of Saturday night’s Alabama vs. Georgia game.
“This is big-time football, and it’s great to see,” Trump said.
The crowd inside the stadium cheered as Trump was shown on a jumbo TV screen, on a video board, watching the game with Sens. Katie Britt, Tommy Tuberville and Steve Daines of Montana.

When asked about his appeal to a younger demographic of voters, Trump said his campaign is “rising.”
“We are way up with young people. It is an honor. They are very smart. And she (Kamala Harris) berated them, saying that ‘they are not smart’ and, I will be honest, they are a smarter than her,” he said .
“There’s never been energy like it is now. And I think it’s me, but also when you look at our country and what’s going on. Our country will be bad, and now we’re in a dangerous place. But we love our country, and we’re going to make it great again .
The change in NFL kickoff caught the attention of Trump, with the Republican nominee praising college football by sticking with the previous rules.
“Big-time college football is like the NFL,” he said. “I don’t know what they’re doing with kickoff returns in the NFL. And I don’t want to get involved in controversy, of course, but it looks bad.
“And I noticed that they don’t do it in college, and they shouldn’t do it,” he said. “And I think the NFL should come back. And it might be a little more dangerous, but I doubt it’s more dangerous. That’s football.”
“I think they made a big mistake when they did it,” he said.
Trump turned his attention to vice presidential running mate Kamala Harris, Gov. Tim Walz, who attended Saturday’s match between them Minnesota and Michigan in Ann Arbor.
“He was booed out of the stadium,” he said. “And you see the hands that got it — it’s a little different.”

“We have to see what happens on November 5. I think it’s the most important day in the history of our country,” Trump said. “This is going to be the biggest election we’ve ever had because our country is going to be bad. I used to say they’re ruining it, no, they’re ruining our country, and we’re going to take it back.”
Trump turned his attention to seven-time NFL Super Bowl champion Tom Brady, who made his debut in the broadcast booth for FOX Sports.

“I think he’s done well. And I think he’s going to do well. He’s a champion, he’s a champion,” Trump said when asked about his performance. “And, there are a lot of people who envy him, so they will always say, no matter how good he is, he will always be negative.”
“I think he did a great job,” he said.
