Olly Murs has made rare comments about his estranged twin brothers, admitting they have struggled with ‘loneliness’ since their split.
The X Factor alum, 40, has not spoken to Ben since 2009 when Olly appeared on Simon Cowell’s singing show and came second to Joe McElderry.
Olly missed his sister’s wedding to Amy Hart in order to take part in the ITV singing competition, with reports at the time claiming he had hoped to attend but was forced to stay in London to rehearse.
However, Olly had to listen over the phone as his sister said ‘I do.’
It was the last time the pair had any contact, with former The Voice coach Olly now expressing his regret at the sudden split.
In an interview with The Saturday Times, the Troublemaker singer said: ‘When you’re in the womb with someone else, you struggle with loneliness.
‘I had to deal with it when my twins and I lived separate lives.’
‘I was desperate to be around people, unable to sit in a room alone,’ she recalls.
Olly is now the proud father of a baby girl, who he welcomed earlier this year with his wife, Amelia Tank.
However, in his single years, Olly did not have an easy life on his own.
‘When I was single for three years, I had to learn to enjoy my own company. That’s when I met Amelia.’
The pop star did not provide any further details about Ben, nor did she give any indication that she would be in contact again.
However, he revealed that he now just wants to focus on being the best father to Madison, and the best partner to bodybuilder Amelia.
“My goal in life is to be a good husband and father – that’s where my future lies,” he said sweetly.
‘I’d love for my career to continue as it is, but when you get married and become a father, you just want to be the best for them.’
All hope may not be lost, as Olly said earlier that he wanted to end their long feud.
In 2018, the Dear Darlin’ hitmaker told Lorraine Kelly that she ‘hopes’ the rift will heal and that she thinks ‘every year’ about what could have been.
‘I had texted him for his birthday but he changed his number. Christmas is never the same.’
Olly added that he ‘still wants to make changes’ with Ben.
Meanwhile, Olly’s twins are out of the limelight, but they have spoken before about their strained relationship.
In 2017, Ben told MailOnline that Olly’s fame ‘changed everything.’
“My parents wanted a bright and shiny Olly with money that could give them a VIP lifestyle,” he said.
‘He likes to hang out with Simon Cowell, or go to a Bon Jovi concert – he likes VIP selfies.
‘I’m not interested in things like that, I have a very good life with my wife and children.’
As a result, Ben is also distant from his parents.
