Mumbai has finally said goodbye to the monsoon and is eagerly waiting to feel the nip in the air. The city that never sleeps may seem more awake this month, as it receives a period of (hopefully free) heat and intense rain. People are more confident about spending time outside and enjoy different types of indulgences. Winter here is a season of celebration for many reasons and what better way to celebrate than with food? Several restaurants, bars and cafes in Mumbai have announced new menus – some seasonal and some just for novelty. Here are some of the best ones to check out:
Here’s a Pick of New Menus in Mumbai Restaurants To Try In Winter 2024:
Indian accent, BKC
Indian Accent has a new Chef’s Tasting menu that you can’t miss this season. It celebrates the flavor of the streets of India, with festive and regal twists that will make you curious to discover more. We were once again impressed by Chef Rijul Gulati’s work. We had the opportunity to taste both vegetarian and non-vegetarian versions of the menu. Both start with a trio of bite-sized treats inspired by the popular street food: indori khopra pattice, Ladakhi apricot samosa and mini raj kachori. On the vegetable menu, this is followed by the Chef’s innovative take on Matar Paneer, a delicious portion of Tawa Jackfruit with sattu roti, and a sumptuous Chenna Morel with saffron cream, topped with fresh truffles.
For non-vegetarians, the initial appetisers are followed by three different delicacies (which are still a dream) – Kanyakumari Crab, Bihari Tash Meat, and Chicken Pakoda. Main dishes include Kashmiri Milk Lamb, Black Dairy Dal and Smoked Eggplant raita. For vegetarians, the meat is replaced with “Chowpatty In A Bowl”, a twist on Mumbai’s beloved street food: pav bhaji, bhel and more. Mains also include Indian Accent’s signature kulchas, which are simply delicious! Dessert courses include Mahabaleshwar Strawberry Cassata, Kaju Katli Cannoli and Soft Baked Chocolate with Basundi (which is worth the wait).

Born in Bandra, Bandra
Bandra Born started as a fun 12-week pop-up and later became a permanent restaurant and bar on Chapel Road. It has become a beloved hotspot for locals and tourists alike. This October, it’s celebrating its 1st anniversary with a revamp of sorts. We had the opportunity to visit the place and learn more about all the new things that Chef Gresham Fernandes and his team have curated. First, Bandra Born now houses India’s (and the world’s) first dedicated Mahua bar. Guests can now discover the wonders of this indigenous spirit through an exciting lineup of cocktails that include drinks like Mahua Colada, Mahua Mule, Tribal Negroni, and more. Bandra Born’s regular drink menu is also undergoing a makeover. New entries include Dodol Dot, It’s Always XXXmas in Bandra, Guah-wah, Zig Zag Nights, and other cocktails that pay homage to Bandra and celebrate Chef Gresham’s roots here.
The food menu also has some tasty additions. We highly recommend the Watermelon Ceviche, Duck Stroop waffle and Anglo Indian Coorgi Pork. A special shout-out to Mutton Panroll is very nice and crisp between the savouries and the complex Kela is pleasant between the desserts. We can’t wait to go back and discover more of our favorites.

Hurrem
Hurrem’s has a decadent new menu that celebrates Turkish flavors through savory and sweet treats. We spent a pleasant evening sampling some people at the outlet in Jio World Drive. We recommend the healthy LentilSoup (especially in season), the hearty Mushroom Vol-Au-Vents and the hearty Potato & Cheese Pide. If you want to go beyond the typical baklavas for dessert, choose the Saffron San Sebastian Cheesecake or the Turkish Coffee Chocolate Cake. We especially like the distinctive texture of the latter – but remember that it is best paired with a drink. There is Turkish Tea and Coffee available, among other options. For a cooling sip, choose the light creamy Levantine Lemonade – which we will happily return for. Although we didn’t have the stomach space to taste it, we have to admit that the newly launched Baklava Sundaes (loaded with 3 scoops of ice cream and a few other delicious elements), looked pretty good.

Mokai, Bandra
Bandra’s artisanal food haven on Chapel Road, Mokai, has recently launched a Matcha menu. Matcha drinks have become part of the regular menu (and we have been quite liked by people when we visited the cafe). However, the new launch adds a dimension of experience and more options to the list. Guests can now stir their own matcha using an original bamboo whisk and then choose from an extensive selection of matcha drinks or make their own on the spot. Mokai has imported ceremonial grade matcha from the lush tea gardens of Uji, Japan, for the same. Guests can enjoy different types of matcha fusions. For example, The Pistachio Matcha promises to be a delight with Sicilian pistachio pasta, house-blend espresso, and organic honey. Matcha Misu combines fresh matcha mascarpone, milk, vanilla essence, condensed milk, and homemade ladyfingers. Other highlights include Taro Boba Matcha, Mango Matcha, Hot Madagascar Vanilla Beans Matcha, Ice Cloud Matcha, Malaysian Jaggery Matcha, etc.
