Colorado Gov. Jared Polis dismissed Aurora residents’ concerns about the takeover of a local apartment complex by the notorious Venezuelan Tren de Aragua gang.
Polis arrogantly dismissed the argument as “absurd” despite overwhelming evidence, including video footage, police reports, and confirmation from the city’s mayor.
The Gateway Pundit previously reported that the Fitzsimon apartment complex in Aurora, Colorado was forced to close its doors, displacing hundreds of families who called it home.
The takeover is a direct result of the dangerous open border policy of the Biden-Harris regime, which allows criminals to enter the country unchecked.
City officials initially said the closure was due to code violations, but residents and local leaders weren’t buying it.
Aurora City Councilwoman Danielle Jurinsky sounded the alarm, pointing to violent gang activity as the real reason behind the closure.
“We’re not buying this,” Jurinsky said. “Yes, there was a code violation, but it started because of a gang takeover. That’s what we believe.”
On Wednesday, newly released video from Fox 31 Denver reporter Vicente Arenas captured alarming footage of an armed group at another Aurora apartment complex.
Councilwoman Danielle Jurinsky has spoken out about the situation, stating that gangs have taken over the complex.
“And I repeat… A GANG has taken over several apartment complexes in Aurora!” Jurinsky wrote in X.

Polis’ press office responded to Aurora City Councilwoman Danielle Jurinsky’s concerns with a sobering statement.
Shelby Wieman, a spokeswoman for the Democratic governor, said the invasion was just a figment of Danielle Jurinsky’s imagination, according to the New York Post.
“The Governor has told the Mayor that the State is prepared to support local police departments with assistance from state troopers and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation if necessary,” Wieman told The Post.
“However, according to police intelligence, the alleged invasion is largely a figment of Danielle Jurinsky’s imagination.”
Wieman further downplayed the situation, adding, “It’s illegal to take buildings in Colorado,” and mockingly suggested that if Jurinsky had “knowledge” of such activities, the governor’s office was “ready to assist” law enforcement in recovering the property.
He also cited dubious statistics, saying, “Violent crime is down in Aurora between 2022 and 2023.”
Aurora Mayor Mike Coffman has been vocal about the crisis, stating that several buildings have fallen into the hands of this Venezuelan gang, which he believes is linked to taxpayer-funded migrant housing.
Coffman’s claim that the gangs are using intimidation tactics to push property management and collect rent highlights a troubling trend that Polis refuses to confront.
“So there are many buildings that are under the same ownership, foreign ownership, that fell to this Venezuelan gang. I tried to go back and do an investigation on how concentrated Venezuelans are in these three buildings,” said Coffman.
“Some are putting it and some are funding it. Whether it’s the federal government or not, we’re trying to find out who these gangs are, apparently, or attracted to where there is a concentration of Venezuelan migrants.
“Therefore, they have pushed property management through intimidation and then collect rent. We have now or already. It is actively operating with a task force from local law enforcement, state law enforcement partners, and federal law enforcement partners for ROOT And arrests have been made, but this operation is still active.
“This is an organized criminal effort that I heard, what is trendy, Aragua, that remains to be seen. But it really does not matter. If they are Venezuelan migrants and commit crimes in an organized way, then it is a problem,” he said.
