Updated exhibit to feature memorabilia from 2024 Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame Artist and Builder inductees
CALGARY, Alberta, Aug. 29, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The National Music Center (NMC) is proud to announce the launch of a new temporary exhibition in partnership with the Canadian Country Music Association.® (CCMA®). Treasured Alberta singer-songwriter it’s okay and prominent Ontario-born industrial builder Gilles Godard will be featured in the updated Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame exhibition, set to open on September 11 in Calgary. Coinciding with the kick-off of Country Music Week in Edmonton from September 11-14, where the two inductees will celebrate, the exhibition will show a collection of memorabilia that shows the wonderful career and contribution of these two Canadian icons.

Artist inductee it’s okayknown for her distinctive voice, playful attitude, and genre-defying music, has left an unforgettable mark on the world of country music and beyond. With many awards and honors, including four GRAMMY Awards, eight JUNO Awards, 10 CCMA Awards, a BRIT Award, an AMA, a VMA, four awards from GLAAD, and the Order of Canada, lang’s contributions have transcended boundaries and genres, making him a Canadian native. The exhibit features memorabilia, instruments, and clothing owned by Lang, highlighting his eclectic style and the evolution of his career. Featuring thrift-store finds, Nudie Suits, clothes designed for her hit songs, “Miss Chatelaine” and “Constant Craving,” and never-before-seen items, such as a handmade diorama for her 1987 album cover. with Reclines, Angel With LariatThe view captures her journey from a rising star in the 1980s to a celebrated icon.
“It’s such an honor to enter the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame, and I like some of my favorite outfits on display at the National Music Center,” Sa kd lang. “These things represent so many meaningful moments in my career, and I’m happy to have a place for my fans to display them. Stan Klees Builder inductee Gilles Godard has been a driving force in the music industry for over five decades, and is currently the President of Nashville’s Anthem Music Publishing. A publishing powerhouse, he played a key role in acquiring the Jody Williams Music catalog, which includes the copyright for several songs by Taylor Swift; Angels Better catalog, featuring Cody Johnson’s 2023 GRAMMY award-winning #1 hit single, “Til You Can’t,” and many more. As a musician, songwriter, record producer, record label founder, and music publishing executive, with more than 400 songs recorded by various artists, he has helped create the careers of many famous artists, gaining the place they deserve in the Canadian Country. Visitors will learn about Godard’s influence through photos, stories, and displays of several awards, including the 1986 RPM Big Country Award for Top Country Producer, given when he was still in his 20s, and the 2017 RIAA Diamond Album Award for more. As the official permanent home of the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame, the National Music Center is the custodian of more than 2,000 artifacts (textiles, instruments, and photographs) in the CCMHF collection. Dedicated to preserving and celebrating the history and heritage of Canadian country music, the exhibit brings together items from the 2024 inductees, as well as past honorees including Terri Clark, Paul Brandt, Anne Murray, Hank Snow, Michelle Wright, Ian Tyson, and more. . Also newly added to this year’s exhibit is an interactive that encourages visitors to sit and play alongside Hall of Fame artists.
