Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrations on Thursday (October 31, 2024), asserted that “terrorism will not be tolerated” and urged the nation to strengthen its unity in the face of constant challenges.
“Terrorist masters now know that destroying India will not yield results, because India will not save it!” PM Modi.
PM Modi also spoke about the challenges facing the Northeast region, stressing that the Government is effectively tackling separatism through “dialogue, trust, and development.”
He praised the Bodo and Bru-Reang agreement for bringing peace and stability and noted that the agreement with the Tripura National Liberation Front has resolved the long-standing unrest. “India is moving forward with peace, development and prosperity,” he said.
Describing the people of Jammu and Kashmir, PM Modi said, “The people of Jammu and Kashmir have rejected the old agenda of separatism and terrorism. They have made the Constitution of India and Indian democracy triumphant. They have ended the propaganda of 70 years with their votes. Today, in On National Unity Day, I greet the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
He emphasized that many threats to national unity have been dealt with in the past decade. PM Modi also cited the successful resolution of the border dispute between Assam and Meghalaya, terming it as an important step towards national integration.
He said, “When the history of the 21st century is written, there will be a chapter on how India rid itself of the scourge of Naxalism.” The Prime Minister described India’s current trajectory as one of vision, direction, and determination.
“Today, we have before us and India that has a vision, direction, and determination. India is both empowering and inclusive, sensitive and alert, humble and also on the path of evolution, which knows the importance of both strength and peace. “he said.
During the speech, the Prime Minister also spoke about India’s rapid and “abnormal” development amid global turmoil, saying, “It is not normal to develop so quickly in the midst of great turmoil in the world. It is not normal to communicate the Buddhist message. when Yuddha.”
PM Modi asserted that as the world faces a crisis, countries are increasingly looking to India. “This is not normal; this is a new history in the making. Today the world is seeing how India solves problems with determination.”
However, PM Modi has expressed concern about forces trying to destabilize India. “With the growing power of India and the growing sense of unity in India, there are some forces … trying to spread instability and anarchy in India.”
“They are involved in damaging India’s economic interests. These forces want to send a wrong message to investors in the world, create a negative image of India. These people are even targeting the Indian army. A misinformation campaign is underway. They want to create division in the army… The only purpose is to destroy the Indian society and its unity. Because the politics of India are weak and such people are doing it by destroying the country. We have to identify the naxal gangs of this city – who dream of destroying the country and working on ideas to destroy it, wearing false masks on their faces. We must fight them,” he said.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi paid tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at the Statue of Unity on his 150th birthday, saying that Patel’s work continues to inspire generations to come. After honoring Patel, he administered the Unity Pledge and participated in the ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ parade at the Parade Ground in Kevadia.
The Ekta Diwas parade included 16 marching contingents from nine states and one Union Territory, four Central Armed Police Forces, the National Cadet Corps (NCC), and a marching band. Special attractions featured the Hell March contingent of the National Security Guard (NSG), a daredevil performance by BSF and CRPF bikers, an Indian Martial Arts display by the BSF, a pipe band performance by school children, and a ‘Surya Kiran’ flypast by the Indian Air Force.
