I’m A Celebrity viewers have claimed that Ant McPartlin is ‘still holding a grudge’ over Dean McCullough’s disastrous attempt at the Bushtucker Trials.
The BBC Radio 1 DJ, 32, has been struggling with the job since day one when he suffered a breakdown during a ‘nightmare’ and ended the Sinister Sarcophagus challenge early.
Such was the wicked sense of humor of British society, Dean continued to be nominated for every Bushtucker Trial since, and has fought through each one.
Last night, viewers noticed that Ant’s patience was wearing thin after the broadcaster again had a meltdown – and even later admitted his response was ‘unprofessional.’
But despite showing regret for his brief remarks to Dean, Ant hit back tonight as the presenter tackled The High Street of Horrors with Danny Jones, according to viewers.
I’m A Celeb fans claimed on X Ant couldn’t resist making ‘sassy’ quips in Dean’s direction, among them @_tventhusiast who said: ‘Ant is still holding his anger because Dean walked out of the trial last night is my level, if Dean says it again Ant can stop people!’
@MaddieArksey commented: ‘Danny forced Dean out of the way to go in the crawl space, and Ant laughed maniacally as Dean got electrocuted. the disgrace is real #imacelebrity#imaceleb.’
@sarahnaomi151 wrote: ‘Ant is so sassy with Dean and honestly Dean deserves it #ImACeleb #ImACelebrity.’
Expanding on his sentiments, @jnkjude said: “I’m not mad” “I’m just disappointed” ant is so fed up with dean #ImACeleb
@LewisWood365 added: ‘Ant three seconds away from filling Dean in #imacelebrity.’
However, when Dean successfully passes the trial – without declaring I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here – and confronts his fear of snakes, Ant says he’s ‘proud’ of him and hugs him.
That said, some aren’t sure Ant’s pride is genuine like @itszahrakhanx laughed: ‘#ImACeleb Ant faking pride in Dean, creasing.’
Dean collected two stars in total, while Danny caught an impressive six, meaning that celebrities ‘will be tucking into a substantial meal tonight.
Last night, Ant said he felt ‘disappointed’ for trying Dean in the Bushtucker Trial, accusing him of ‘not trying properly’ and telling him to ‘try harder’ after he quit.
He even scolded Dean for not seeing through the challenge, saying: ‘Now Dean, I want to talk to you. What happened yesterday? There are no stars. What happened the day before? You said “I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here.” You can only change the narrative by staying and going
Ant later reflected on Dean’s treatment in the spin-off show I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Dismantled.
When initially asked by host Sam Thompson, Ant joked that he didn’t talk about it.
‘My distraction came on screen and I was quite unprofessional and I wasn’t happy about it,’ Ant said as he held up his hand.
Ant explained how he had reached this point of frustration: ‘You get to the point where you’re like “What are you doing?”
Joel Dommett then shared the moment when Dean tried to talk to Ant about Benidorm and he refused.
Remembering why he wasn’t involved, Ant said he didn’t want to talk.
I’m A Celebrity continues tomorrow at 9pm on ITV and ITVX.
