Gen Z is at it again – and this time they’ve announced that you shouldn’t use concealer.
However, the trendy age group is opting for bronzer, promising to be a total ‘game changer’ in terms of your makeup look.
In a video posted to TikTok this summer, user Sierra Cannon explained that she doesn’t like the bright look that usually hides your eyes, so she opted for bronzer instead.
She showed viewers how to get the look for herself, when she dabbed Saie’s Dew Bronze liquid bronzer under the eyes and above the eyelids, blending together with a large powder brush.
“I’ve never used a lighter concealer because I don’t think it matches my features, so I tend to make them darker rather than light,” said Cannon, who has more than half a million followers on TikTok. ‘I’m really glowing.’

The content creator even created a follow-up video comparing what bronzer versus concealer looks like on either side of her face – leaving viewers divided in the comments section on which looks better.
Mattie Lacey-Davidson, an esthetician in London, also tried the bronzing hack after seeing Cannon’s video.
Lacey-Davidson tried out regular concealer on one side of her face and bronzer on the other, but admitted she couldn’t tell which one looked better.
‘I’m not bronze-y, sun-kissed, glow-y girl, but if I am, and it’s true, I don’t think it suits me, but this makes it work on me?’ he asked viewers in a TikTok video.
Commenters were once again divided, with some telling the esthetician that the bronzer made her ‘blue eyes pop,’ while the concealer made her look ‘brighter’ and ‘more awake.’
‘I like the bronzer side. It might not work depending on your skin tone (dark in summer, maybe paler in winter) but I think it’s great,’ wrote one commenter.
Another observed, ‘Concealer brightens the whites of your eyes so your face looks brighter overall.
‘Bronzer makes your eyes look blue. So it depends on your goals.’

But if bronzers aren’t your thing, don’t worry, you’re still joining the crowd, as the rest of Gen Z have ditched the product from their makeup routines.
One TikTok user, Janet Flores, said she saw someone make a video advising her not to use concealer if she’s over 30 because it creates fine lines and wrinkles.
Flores took the advice, and announced that he loved the look – and would ‘never’ use it again.
Makeup creator @Beautybybanda also recommends avoiding concealer for a ‘natural makeup look.’
But is replacing your concealer with bronzer to hide dark under-eye bags a reality?
According to the makeup artist, using bronzer may not be the solution to the problem under the eyes.
‘If you are trying to cover dark circles, using bronzer can actually have the opposite effect and emphasize them,’ Cat Mignano based in New York City make-up artist told DailyMail.com.
“However, I’m open to the idea of putting it under your concealer,” she added.
According to NYC-based makeup artist Cat Mignano, using bronzer may not be the solution to under-eye problems.

She admits that the trend can make your face look ‘later.’
“Typically, using a lighter concealer under the eyes adds dimension to your face,” Mignano explains.
It can also help highlight certain areas of the face, she says.
‘While this look can be cute for selfies or everyday makeup, I wouldn’t recommend it for professional photography,’ Mignano detailed.
However, she admires Gen Z for their creativity and fun efforts when it comes to trying out different ways to wear makeup.
‘She’s quick to jump on trends and try new things,’ the makeup artist observed.
‘Trends come and go, but if you find something that works for you, I’d stick with it!’
