Tuesday’s mail page is happy that Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom has a female director, as one reader was shocked by the cost PS5 Pro bundle.

Expectations are low
So, once again all the rumors are true, and we have State of Play out at 11pm on Tuesday. (11pm on a Tuesday… thanks Sony, really think your international customers are there.) But, I’m not sure why we expect it? The possibility of a major party announcement, beyond some boring remaster, is almost non-existent and while I think Capcom can announce Resident Evil 9 I’ll save it for The Game Awards, when more people are watching.
Sony has ruined the concept of State of Play this year. It’s not even all boring, but the supposed good, as Concord reveals, is the worst! I blame that for Concord’s bad reception more than anything else and for me it’s just another proof that Sony has no idea how to talk to fans anymore or have any idea what they want.
I hope something good is revealed tonight, but I won’t spoil my beautiful sleep. I just read about it in the morning and was really unsurprised when it wasn’t a burger or anything else.

It’s cool to know that the new Zelda will be directed by a woman. I wouldn’t expect much from Nintendo, especially when there are some famous female game creators. Once again, we see Nintendo quietly going about their business, pushing the boundaries, while Sony and Microsoft seem to be talking and not taking action.
I also noticed that Digital Foundry thinks the Switch 2 is leaking real images. I think it’s pretty obvious that the photo, the Joy-Cons and the motherboard are real so I guess that means Switch 2 really… a Switch 2. That is, the basic idea is the same but seven years.
That’s exactly what I want from new hardware. I agree that there is a danger that regular players won’t notice the difference, but it’s just a question of marketing. Nintendo got it so wrong with the Wii U and so right with the original Switch. We’ll see which one is right for this, but I don’t believe it’s going to break things any worse than its recent competitors.

Comfortable to buy
I know people are free to do whatever they want with their money, but big on a PS5 Pro bundle, only to be the same gray color as the original PlayStation? Sometimes I think I’m the only person in the country who doesn’t have a pile of usable currency just sitting around.
If you ask me Sony is out of control. I don’t know what State of Play tonight is going to talk about but I bet it will be something interesting and certainly not cheap. I’ll laugh that head back from Concord. I really wouldn’t be surprised if Sony tried it but I can guarantee that people would rip them off if they did.
I’m so cynical of Sony now, I think I might get Astro Bot just to remind myself that they can still be good, especially if they’re filled with nods to older games. Or will they just stick the knife in, show how far they fall?

Download only
After the rave reviews of Marvel Vs. Capcom Battle Collection: Arcade Classics I’ll pick up a physical release on Switch in November from the US, probably from Amazon or Video Games Plus, as the game isn’t available in the UK physically on Switch. Did you know that all games and content will be included on the Switch cartridge? Or will it require a download? If it requires a download I’ll go for the PlayStation 4 version instead. How much space does the Switch cart have?
I bought Metal Gear Solid: The Collection Vol. 1 on Switch but most of the content required downloading so I sent it back for a refund and got the PlayStation 5 version as a Christmas present, as there is more content on the disc but still downloadable.

GC: They haven’t said yet, but Switch cartridges come in different sizes.
Non-zero chance
I can not agree with Cranston’s prediction of the next gen, at all. If Xbox claims ‘the biggest technical leap in a generation of consoles’, it won’t be a handheld. Those who do not say they will not have a hand. Can Sony do the same? But now, I don’t care about the next generation. Today’s generation hardly feels that they have progressed.
I am more interested in the game that is designed for this generation. Let’s start with GTA 6, which is at the top of the players’ wish list. At this point, I feel a big title like GTA 6 is badly needed.
Any chance of a Switch 2 version of GTA 6? It’s not like we can confirm the unannounced console version. Wishful thinking, perhaps. But I don’t argue.

We will see if FIFA comes with a new game. If they had partnered with 2K, I think they had the best chance of beating EA, but they would be in a hurry. They haven’t had enough time that they will launch next year and then the name will be dirty before they have a chance to make it good, like eFootball.
There is also the UFL, which promotes Cristiano Ronaldo, but it looks like it will have the same problem. Something like EA Sports FC is too expensive to make it impossible to compete, unless you’re going to spend a stupid amount of money.
EA’s FIFA is outselling Pro Evolution Soccer even though it’s a far better game, so the quality doesn’t have much to do with it. The game should be decent and have all the licenses, and EA games constantly hit the low bar.

Under the new management
In response to Liam’s request for arcade tips in Japan. I was in Akihabara in August and, to be honest, the arcades were a little disappointing, except for the ones that go to Gundam, rhythm games or pachinko.
However, there is an awesome retro arcade on the top floor of the GiGO 3 building, which has old school cabinets with Street Fighter 2, House Of The Dead, OutRun, and more. They also have a Star Wars Battle Pod, which is worth anyone’s money! Here is a link with more details.

Too good to fail
What happened to why Concord failed like that is unreal. Even if the $400 million figure is incorrect, how do you spend eight years making an Overwatch clone? I mean, kudos to whoever in development was able to hold Sony together for so long, convincing them it was going to be the next Star Wars. I mean, really? Don’t forget that they copied Guardians Of The Galaxy so clearly and it couldn’t be right.
I read that the new CEO, Herman Hulst, was the champion of games at Sony, not Jim Ryan, so that’s a good sign for him to be the new boss, eh? I imagine he’s the one pushing Horizon Zero Dawn now, because he works at Guerilla, so he knows he has the right priorities, thinking only of himself and not of PlayStation as a whole.
But who knows, really. We will probably never know exactly what is going on behind the scenes. All we know is that it’s a disaster and Sony is sleeping irrelevantly. If Xbox had any sense about him now would be the time to strike, but I doubt Indiana Jones would do the killing blow. Especially if it’s coming to PlayStation.

RE: Liam and game together for flight. If you have a DS console, you can fill your time with many games like Tetris, Mario Kart, Space Invaders Extreme, 42 All-Time Classics, there are many to choose from.

I really don’t understand why PC gamers constantly complain about having to join PSN to play games. It costs nothing and they are very clear about it. Maybe not spend £50 on a new game before checking it out?
