Iga Swiatek begins action at the French Open today, before Coco Gauff takes to the court, with the likes of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Dosa also set to feature in another packed day of action at Roland Garros.
Women’s top seed Swiatek has fought her way to a fourth French Open title but demolished Anastasia Potapova 6-0, 6-0 earlier on Court Philippe-Chatrier before one of her rivals for the title, Gauff, dispatched Italy’s Elisabetta Cocciaretto. in a similar style, 6-1, 6-2.
Meanwhile, another Italian, Dosa, cruised into the fourth round with a dominant 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 win over Pavel Kotov earlier this week and now faces favorite Corentin Moutet up front in an impressive night session match ahead. of the undoubted French.
Alcaraz will also play, against 21st seed Felix Auger-Aliassime. The Spaniard, seeded third in the tournament, defeated Sebastian Korda in straight sets in the final after being pushed by Jesper de Jong in the previous round.

He couldn’t do it on his second attempt either, as he dragged his forehand wide.
But it didn’t matter, as he worked Arnaldi into the back corner before sending a backhand into the opposite side!
After an exciting game and a great effort from Matteo Arnaldi, it looks like Alcaraz v Tsitsipas in the quarter-finals!

Some hope for Arnaldi as he held serve to make it 1-4 in the fourth set.
Tsitsipas led 0-30 in game six, hitting an overhead volley with little trouble.
It’s now 0-40 as Arnaldi sends the return of the serve over the baseline. Tsitsipas had a chance to win the game, but a slice of the pad could only find the net.
It didn’t matter, as his serve was too strong for Arnaldi and he was 1-5 in the fourth set.

Alcaraz is on set point at 15-40. He did well to return the Canadian’s serve, before a backhand cannoned past him to take the second set 3-6.
An impressive final 30 minutes from the third seed, but this match was much closer than the score in the section suggests.

An ace from Tsitsipas gave him the advantage and one step to 0-4, but he only found the net with a one-handed backhand. Deuce again.
It didn’t matter though, as Arnaldi failed to return serve on the next point, before Tsitsipas forced him to make the same mistake at 0-4. It seems the Italians have run out of ideas here.
A reminder that the winner of this game will be the winner of the game at Philippe-Chatrier.

Felix Auger-Aliassime has clawed another game back at Philippe-Chatrier, and started the eighth game by winning the first point.
Alcaraz levels after an easy shot, before taking 15-30 with a powerful forehand down the court.
The Spaniard brought it to 15-40 as volleys home after approaching the net, before making 3-5 in the set after sending Auger-Aliassime the wrong way with a disguised forehand shot back right Canadian.

Tsitsipas has won all eight of his last points now as he raced to a 0-2 lead in the fourth set. He slowly guided the ball into the side of the net with a score of 0-30 in game three, and has now won nine points in a row.
He couldn’t make it 10, because Arnaldi’s return was too strong. The Italian also bounced back, firing a forehand just out of reach to level the game at 30-all.
The next point saw a rally before Arnaldi reached the top of the net and bounced back into his side.
Tsitsipas has another break point and he takes it! 0-3 for Tsitsipas, and it starts to get away from Italy here.

Alcaraz saved the sixth game by diving to meet Auger-Aliassime’s shot on the volley.
It’s deuce again, and it’s hard on the Canadian as the shot catches the net and bounces over the baseline.
And the Spaniard makes it 2-4 without any problems! He has done well for the claws who are coming back from 30-0.

Arnaldi has extended the life of this set by holding his serve. Meanwhile, Alcaraz has advanced in the second set of the match, and is now 3-2 up.
Tstitipas raced to a 0-40 lead on his serve, and would have at least three set points. He fired a powerful backhand down the line, and Arnaldi couldn’t get it back. The Greeks took the third set, and the second!
