The Europa League and Conference League phase draws will see seven English clubs – including Manchester United, Tottenham, Chelsea and Rangers – find their opponents today.
When is the draw?
The draw for the Europa League stages – which includes Man Utd, Spurs and Rangers – took place on 12pm UK time todaywith the Conference League draw – involving Chelsea, Hearts, Welsh side The New Saints and Northern Irish side Larne – starting in 13.30 UK time today.
How to draw?
Like the Champions League, the Europa League and the Conference League will see the number of teams expanded from 32 to 36. The biggest change sees the transformation from the traditional group stage to a single league phase involving all participating teams.
In the Europa League, each club will now be guaranteed a minimum of eight matches at league level against eight different opponents (four home matches, four away matches) instead of the previous six matches against three teams, played on a home and away basis. .
But in the Conference League, each team will face six different teams (three home matches, three away).
In both tournaments, the top eight teams in the league will automatically qualify for the knockout stages, while the teams finishing ninth to 24th will compete in two-legged play-offs to secure a place in the last 16 of the competition.
Teams ranked 25-36 are eliminated from all competitions.
