Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday launched a blistering attack on the Congress saying that if there is power in Haryana even by accident, stability and development will be at stake due to “dissension” and this will harm the state.
Addressing a poll rally in Gohana for the October 5 Assembly elections, he also attacked the Congress on the reservation issue, saying the party was opposed to it and hatred was in its DNA.
Slamming the main opposition party, said the Congress government is known for “stability”. “For the past few years, wherever the government is, the chief minister and the minister are involved in conflict. They are out of touch with the pain and problems of the people,” Modi said citing the example of Congress-led Karnataka.
“In Karnataka, the chief minister and deputy chief minister are busy in internal battles. In Telangana and Himachal Pradesh, the story is the same,” he said in his second public meeting in the state, the first more than a week ago in Kurukshetra.
Modi also mentioned the allegations of infighting in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh when the Congress came to power there. “That’s why Haryana has to be careful. Haryana is entitled to me. Remember, if the Congress comes to power even if it is wrong, it will destroy Haryana because of the quarrel,” he said.
“The way infighting is increasing in the Congress, the whole of Haryana is watching,” he said.
Voting for Congress means putting the stability and development of Haryana at stake and opening the door of destruction, he reiterated.
“This instability will stop every work in Haryana. Investments and jobs will be affected,” Modi said.
Notably, with Haryana going to polls next month, the ruling BJP has targeted the Congress over allegations of infighting in the Haryana unit and has even said that Lok Sabha member and prominent Dalit leader Kumari Selja is not happy with her party over ticket distribution as well. stay away from poll campaigns.
Former chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar also invited Selja to join the BJP, but he rejected the possibility of switching, saying, “I am a Congressman, I will remain a Congressman.” In his speech, Modi said that while the Congress remains out of power, the poor, SC, ST and OBC are getting their rights.
When the Congress remained in power, it usurped the rights of Dalits and oppressed them, he said.
Whoever becomes prime minister from the ‘royal family’ of the Congress, they will always oppose reservation, he said.
“Fighting and hating reservations is in the DNA of the Congress party. That’s why today we see that the fourth generation of the Congress royal family wants to remove reservations. You have to be careful with the anti-reservation tactics of the Congress party,” he said.
The BJP is giving participation, rightly to Dalits, OBCs and tribals while working to advance the deprived and backward sections, Modi said.
“In Haryana, you see the BJP making Nayab Saini (who hails from the OBC community) the chief minister. In a short time, Saini has made a place in the hearts of the people of Haryana,” he said.
Referring to his US visit, Modi said he met leaders and representatives of big companies. “I am telling you about the talent of the Indian youth.” He said under the BJP government, Haryana has become one of the top states in the industrial and agricultural sectors.
“Today, the largest companies in the world are interested in setting up factories in India,” he said, adding “when industrialization increases, the greatest benefit is for the poor, farmers and Dalits”.
Modi asserted that as polling day approaches in Haryana, support for the BJP is increasing while the Congress is still in power. He gave his confidence about BJP’s return to power in Haryana.
Today, all of Haryana is saying ‘Phir ek baar, BJP sarkar’, he said.
He also said, “I am proud to say that whatever I am today, Haryana has contributed a lot.” Modi said that BR Ambedkar believed that in the empowerment of Dalits, industry has a big role to play.
He used to see Dalits, poor, without adequate land. They know that many poor people are landless and spend their lives as farm labourers, Modi said.
That is why Baba Saheb (Ambedkar) used to say that when factories are set up, Dalits and the underprivileged get a chance.
That is why Baba Saheb used to tell Dalits to learn technical skills. In BJP’s policies, decisions and thoughts, you will see the reflection of this thought of Baba Saheb, Modi said.
For Dalits and the disadvantaged sections of the industry, real empowerment is possible, Modi pointed out.
There is one more challenge before our country, which BJP is only talking about, he said.
In our country, farm holding has decreased. The population is increasing, but the farms are decreasing. Agricultural economists believe that in the villages along with farming, there must be other ways to earn, said the prime minister.
That’s why every parent wants that one child will work on the farm, the other will go to the city to earn, he said.
As the industry developed, the life of the farmers also improved and the youth of the farming families also got good jobs and opportunities, he said.
Modi also paid tribute to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya on his birthday, saying that inspired by him, the BJP took the country to new development and uplifted the poor.
In the second phase of polling in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, he congratulated the people who participated in the festival of democracy with great enthusiasm.
“Since morning, people are queuing up to cast their votes. In the first phase, the voting record was broken in J&K, which has also been seen in the world,” he said.
