According to Bloomberg, China prefers Kamala Harris to Donald Trump, a sentiment echoed by Professor Jia Qingguo, of Peking University, an adviser to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). This preference only shows that Trump’s China policy is tougher on Beijing and better for America.
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is the greatest threat to America since the fall of the Soviet Union. Beijing is seeking to dismantle the US-led liberal international order and replace it with a China-centric authoritarian regime that fulfills Xi Jinping’s vision of the “great rejuvenation of China.” This global dominance will be achieved through military coercion and sophisticated surveillance technology. Xi aims to extend the high-tech surveillance state that China has built, the most sophisticated in the world, to other countries, consolidating control on a global scale.
China’s recent actions, including around Taiwan with a record 125 warplanes during large-scale military exercises and reports of possible drone strikes near US national security facilities, underscore its growing aggression. While the Biden-Harris administration responded with statements calling for deterrence, there was no concrete action, as seen in its response to previous incidents like China’s spy balloons. The administration’s strategy of “managing competition” with China without taking more decisive action has created the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
Over the past four years, Xi Jinping and the CCP have embraced the weaknesses of the Biden-Harris administration’s approach. From imposing sanctions on US officials during Biden’s inauguration to China’s human rights abuses being ignored by international bodies, the administration’s diplomatic efforts, including re-engaging with the UN Human Rights Council, have failed to hold China accountable. In addition, during the US-China meeting in Alaska in 2021, Chinese diplomats publicly harassed American officials, but diplomatic relations continued without significant impact on China. This series of perceived mistakes has strengthened China’s position at the expense of US security.
Trump has been tough on China and is expected to take a tougher stance if re-elected. In contrast, Biden and Harris use a softer approach, focusing on cooperation and fun rather than containment. His administration has failed to cut China off from critical U.S. supply chains, prevent American investment in Chinese companies, or effectively address widespread espionage by students, researchers, illegal immigrants, and other civilians in the U.S. acting as PRC agents. .
Despite their emphasis on diplomacy and collaboration, and their criticism of Trump, Biden and Harris failed to build an effective coalition against China. While the US spends hundreds of billions on defense to protect itself from China, many US allies continue to trade and invest with Beijing, indirectly funding the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), which regularly conducts war simulations against the US.
Unfortunately, not only foreign companies but also American businesses and investors continue to buy Chinese products and invest in China. The Biden-Harris administration could impose a moratorium on US investment in China and raise tariffs up to 100% to prevent the purchase of Chinese goods, and also discourage US allies from manufacturing in China and exporting to the US. However, they have not taken this. step.
Democrats and the liberal mainstream media have criticized Trump’s trade war with China during his first term, but have stood by tariffs and restrictions while adding to them. At the same time, they continue to trade with China, cooperate with Beijing, and allow Chinese agents to infiltrate US educational institutions, civic organizations, and even the government sector.
A president Kamala-Walz will be worse. Tim Walz has stated that if Donald Trump had accompanied him on his many trips to China, he would have known he was wrong about the PRC. However, there is nothing wrong with that. The US intelligence community, including the FBI, Homeland Security, the CCP Select Committee, and the Department of Defense all recognize China as the greatest threat to the US. and further open the country to the Chinese Communist Party?
The Biden-Harris administration has consistently used the wrong strategy to avoid a cold war with China, not realizing that the US and China have become one. The cold war was characterized by economic and diplomatic competition, espionage, low-intensity military conflicts, and proxy wars—all short of full-scale war. This exactly describes US-China relations today. Whenever Biden and Harris talk about mending relations with China, they miss the point: the relationship is irreparable. China aims to replace the US and dominate the world, while America and most other countries oppose this vision. China’s axis of support includes less than ten countries willing to live in a world led by China, leaving no room for compromise. The US needs to take a tougher stance on China, and Trump has promised to deliver exactly that.
