LONDON – Liam and Noel Gallagher, frontmen of the British band Oasis, confirmed on Tuesday that they will put aside their 15-year feud to reunite for a string of shows next year that they hope will generate feverish demand.
Oasis have announced shows in Cardiff, Manchester, London, Edinburgh and Dublin from July 4 to August 17, 2025, which will be their only European dates next year. Tickets go on sale on Saturday, August 31, 2024.
“Plans are underway to bring OASIS LIVE ’25 to other continents outside of Europe next year,” the band said in a statement.
Oasis disbanded on August 28, 2009, with the Gallagher brothers pursuing solo projects and performing Oasis hits separately over the years. The announcement comes just before the 30th anniversary of the release of “Definitely Maybe,” the best-selling debut album in British history at the time, which featured tracks including “Live Forever” and “Supersonic.”
The Manchester group’s most famous songs include “Wonderwall,” “Don’t Look Back in Anger” and “Champagne Supernova.” The band was at the center of the Britpop movement in the 1990s – a cultural wave that championed British rock music – and to rival the London band Blur.
When Oasis played two nights at Knebworth in Hertfordshire, England in 1996, 2.5 million people applied for tickets, according to the BBC. The band currently has 21.6 million monthly listeners on Spotify, according to the music streaming platform.
Tickets for the latest show will go on sale through sites including Ticketmaster. The site has been criticized in recent years for failing to sell well-known artists such as Taylor Swift. CNBC has contacted Ticketmaster for comment.
Live music fans have also complained about the prices of tickets being sold on resale sites, which can reach nearly $1,000 for top-selling performers such as Beyoncé.
Ticketmaster said resales are only carried out at the face value of the ticket plus booking fees, and must only be made through the site or official resale partners, with unauthorized sales potentially voiding the ticket.
