A bride recently walked down the aisle after her mother didn’t arrive on time.
A newlywed turned to Reddit for advice after her wedding day turned out to be a disaster due to some family members being late.
“The wedding day started as usual. I (the bride) was inside preparing and the final touches were made outside,” he wrote in a social media post on August 27.

She continued, “After I was almost ready at noon, my mom had to run back to the hotel for 20 minutes to change and come back with my grandmother and family friends.”
With the ceremony starting at 2pm, the bride said the entourage was running a bit late – but there was nothing they could do to change the event schedule.
“The next thing I knew, I was walking down the aisle without my mom, grandma, or family friends,” she said.
“The ceremony continued, and it was over before we knew it.”

The bride and groom said that the three wedding guests arrived 45 minutes later.
“Then, I went ahead and told him it was over and he missed it… that 2:00 meant 2:00,” he continued.
He added, “My mom immediately became hostile and proceeded to blame the bakery for not having any bread ready. Then, (she) said that they stopped the train, and my favorite was, ‘It’s your fault you didn’t call or text to see where we are.'”

The bride responded by simply saying, “The invitation is at 2:00” – and noted that the wedding officiant had another ceremony after hers, so she was on a tight schedule.
At the end of the Reddit post, the bride said she knew her mother was late to the wedding because she “hadn’t finished getting herself ready.”
Florida-based etiquette expert Jacqueline Whitmore told Fox News Digital that someone just called her mother “to see where she was and why she was late.”
He added, “Many weddings are a bit late due to various issues, so it wouldn’t be a big deal waiting for mom and grandma to come back if it was a few minutes.”

He also emphasized the importance of being on time at the wedding.
“Marriage is a once-in-a-lifetime event, so excluding important family members just to get started is a bit extreme,” he said.
Whitmore said the problems described on Reddit seem like they could have been avoided with a simple phone call and proper planning.

One side user with the bride, said, “If he can receive a text, he can send a text. It is not up to the bride or groom to track the family on the wedding day.”
Another Redditor agreed and wrote, “I’m not going to have a ceremony for mom because with people like her, you never know when she’s going to show up. You have to get on with life.”
Other users take a very different approach.
This person wrote, “If my mom and grandma weren’t there within 15 minutes of the start time, I would have called them because my brain would have thought they were dead in a ditch somewhere.”
