In a stunning admission during an Arizona Senate debate, Democratic candidate Lauren Kuby revealed her dangerous agenda for the southern border.
Kuby, who is running on a platform of radical immigration reform, said he does not support charging cartel drug dealers who sell fentanyl to minors with a Class 2 felony.
“My opponent does not believe in legal immigration, only ILLEGAL! He opposes Prop 314 which 63% of Arizonans want. He said selling fentanyl to children should not be a class 2 felony. Kuby is too extreme for Arizona,” said Roxana Holzapfel (R), who is AZ Senate LD8.
This comes as fentanyl deaths are on the rise in Arizona, with Maricopa County seeing a 5,000% increase since 2015.
Instead of holding traffickers accountable, Kuby wants to open our borders wider and give blanket citizenship to illegal immigrants.
“We need the Dream Act to work. We need to find a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants. And we need to fix the visa system to address the labor shortage and reunify families. I embrace a humanitarian approach and want our country to treat the migrants with dignity and respect. That means improving conditions in detention centers and ensuring that people have access to legal representation,” Kuby said.
Is this the kind of leadership Arizonans want? A candidate who prioritizes lawbreakers over the safety of American families? The Democrats’ open border policy is not only reckless but potentially deadly.
With fentanyl, human trafficking, and violent gangs rife along our southern border, Kuby’s plan is nothing short of disastrous.
During the debate, Kuby’s opponent, Roxana Holzapfel, a former police officer, blasted him for this dangerous attitude. Holzapfel supports Prop 314, which would make it a Class 2 felony for drug dealers whose actions result in death.
“Fentanyl is the deadliest drug in Arizona today, and it flows freely and unchecked across our borders. More than three people on average die every day from fentanyl. We all probably know or have known a friend or family member who died from drugs that’s horrible. It doesn’t have to be like that. As a former police officer, I know how critical law and order is to the community,” Holzapfel said.
“About Prop. 314, let’s be clear: this is about arresting people who cross the border illegally. It’s not about people driving down the streets of Tempe, getting pulled over, and being deported.
“This is specifically for those who witness crossing the border illegally, so they can be arrested. The best part of Prop 314 is that it makes it a class 2 felony. So, someone who knowingly sells fentanyl that causes death is now charged with a class 2 felony. So, my answer is yes, I support Prop 314,” he added.
However, Kuby dismissed the proposal as “dangerous” and warned that it would harm Arizona’s economy—despite the fact that the ongoing fentanyl crisis has wreaked havoc on Arizona communities.
“To me, this is dangerous legislation, and it will destroy our economy. Just look at your party leaders. There is a bipartisan bill passed by the Senate and the House in Congress, and former President Trump gave the kibosh because he didn’t want Biden to look good with pass comprehensive reform. It’s costing us more money, and I’m not going down that road. It’s wrong for our family.
Holzapfel didn’t back down.
“If I can, it’s only because you say I can’t. This isn’t about local police officers walking around town and arresting people. This is about witnessing illegal entry at the border. And since you’re raising the current administration, there shouldn’t be any type of Senate bill. or whatever because the current President, I believe we have the current President, stop everything to keep our borders safe from the former. President Trump. We are in this crisis now because of his actions – Biden.
