Morgan Wallen has been one of the fastest rising stars in the world of country music for years now. Despite some controversy along the way, the âLast Nightâ singer, 30, has climbed the charts and become a crossover success. His albums Dangerous: The Double Album and One thing at a time both landed on top of the Billboard charts, and the single âLast Nightâ reached number one on the Hot 100 chart.

His first studio LP If I Know Me dropped on April 27, 2018. He has opened for the superstar country duo Florida Georgia Line during the 2017 tour, and FGL appeared on the albumâs second single, âUp Down.â Morganâs third single âWhiskey Glassesâ was released in the summer of 2018, and became a slow hit, reaching number one on the country radio charts in June 2019 and becoming one of the biggest hits of the year. If I Know Me finally reached the number one point in the Billboard Country Albums Chart as of August 2020, 114 weeks after release.
Morgan Cut from âSNLâ 2020 Episode for Breaking COVID Quarantine
Morgan broke strict quarantine rules SNL due to COVID-19, and was seen in several TikTok videos during a loud party in Tuscaloosa, AL after the University of Alabama football game the previous Saturday. In the video, Morgan is at a bar and house party taking pictures, not social distancing, not wearing a mask, and kissing a female fan.
On October 7, the 27-year-old shared an Instagram video from a hotel room in New York, saying that he was getting ready for Saturdayâs performance, âand I got a call from the show that I wonât be able to play anymore. And thatâs because the COVID protocol, which I understand. Morgan noted that he had tested negative for the coronavirus, but his actions the previous weekend were âquite short, and it obviously affected my long-term goals and dreams.â
Two months after he was originally supposed to appear Saturday Night LiveMorgan appeared on the show as the musical guest. The singer previously apologized for putting the cast and crew âin dangerâ by partying without masks and not social distancing, promising to âworkâ and take responsibility. Morgan Involved In More Controversy When Heard Using Racial Slurs
The âWasted on Youâ singer was heard uttering a slur while heading to her Tennessee home. Video obtained by TMZ shows Morgan and his friends arriving at the house around midnight and causing a commotion. Neighbors came outside, and one began recording the incident.
Morgan is heard telling someone to look after one of the other men in the group. Among other profanities, the country singer said, âTake care of this p****-ass n*****.â On February 10, 2021 he posted a lengthy apology video to clarify some of his comments. âThe video you see is me at hour 72 out of 72 of the bender and itâs not something Iâm proud of. he explained, admitting he was ânervousâ when filming the Instagram post. âI let a lot of people down⊠Iâm not OK with that⊠I also received several invitations from some amazing Black organizations, executives and leaders to participate in some real and honest conversations,â he continued. âOur actions are important, our words are important, and I just want to encourage anyone who watches to learn of my mistake There is no reason to underestimate what I am doing. Thatâs important,â he said.
A few days before the video, he also apologized through a statement: âIâm ashamed and sorry,â he said on February 5, 2021. âI used unacceptable and inappropriate racist words that I hope can be taken back. There is no reason to use this kind of language. I want to sincerely apologize for using that word. I promise I will do better.â
