President Joe Biden announced his victory in Boeing machinists approved a new labor deal, ending a 53-day strike that halted most aircraft production at the US military exporter and contractor and cut the final jobs report ahead of Tuesday’s presidential election.
The deal was “achieved with the support of his economic team, including Acting Secretary of Labor Julie Su and National Economic Adviser Lael Brainard,” Biden said in a statement.
“For the past four years, we have shown the work of collective bargaining. Good contracts benefit workers, businesses, and consumers—and are key to growing the American economy from the middle and the bottom,” he said.
Boeing’s new contract for 33,000 union machines, mostly on the US West Coast, includes a 38% increase over four years, $12,000 and a deal with the company that will build the next plane at one of the union’s factories in the Seattle area. Workers returned to work early Wednesday, although the company is not out of the woods with several aircraft program delays including the late arrival of Boeing 747s that will be the next Air Force One aircraft.

Pollster Frank Luntz: Nevada, Pennsylvania will still be too close to call tomorrow
Pollster and political strategist Frank Luntz on CNBC’s Squawk Box this morning said that Pennsylvania and Nevada will be too close to call on Wednesday morning, and the general public won’t know the results of the presidential election until “late Friday or early Saturday.”
“If Trump loses either (Georgia and North Carolina), it will be a Harris victory. If Trump wins either Pennsylvania or Michigan, it will be a Trump victory,” Luntz said.
Another metric that Luntz is “watching very closely” is the Latino vote in Nevada and Arizona, whether conservative older women will vote more for Harris than usual for the Democratic candidate, young women who are “more pro-Harris than the Democratic group. ,” and whether the polls today will see record numbers, which will be “good news for Trump.”

Harris and Trump tied the race at midnight in Dixville Notch, an unincorporated community in the small New Hampshire town where there are six registered voters this year.
Three of those voters went to Harris while the other three went to Trump. Polls open at midnight and close at 12:07 a.m. ET
Since 1960, Dixville Notch voters have followed the tradition of casting their own ballots in wooden boxes just after midnight, before the results are announced a few minutes later.
Although Dixville Notch results are not a predictive measure, the tradition has been kicking off Election Day events for decades.
This year, the Harris-Trump tie happens to mirror the heated race that polls have reported over the past few months. In 2020, President Biden received all five Dixville Notch votes before winning the overall race.

More than 77 million have voted early

More than 77 million Americans have cast ballots by mail or in person, according to NBC News’ tally of early elections.
That’s lower than in 2020, when more than 100 million Americans voted early. But the results come amid the deadly Covid-19 pandemic, when many Americans are avoiding public gatherings and states have expanded absenteeism rules and early voting.
Trump has criticized early voting in 2020 — an attitude that could help President Joe Biden win some key swing states.
While Trump has often waxed nostalgic about voting one day in the 2024 cycle, the campaign and Harris have mostly encouraged supporters to vote as soon as possible.
NBC data, provided by TargetSmart, shows Democrats slightly leading Republicans in the early vote tally, 41% to 39%.
Among the seven key battleground states, registered Democrats have more votes in early voting in three – Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin – while registered Republicans lead in Arizona, Nevada, North Carolina and Georgia.

What that means for the end result is unclear.
While early voter numbers are often seen as a signal of certain voter enthusiasm or expected turnout, it is difficult to predict how many other voters will turn out on Tuesday. It is also difficult to know ahead of time what part of the party’s initial vote “cannibalizing” voters on Election Day.
An NBC analysis found that among early voters in 2024 who did not vote in 2020, Democrats outnumber Republicans in Pennsylvania, and female Democrats are the largest group of new voters in the state.
But in Arizona, there are more new Republican voters than Democrats, and male Republicans are leading the way.
